Baby Detained For Over Two Weeks At Komfo Anokye Due To Parents Inability To Pay Ghc 10,000 Bill

A baby who suffered from severe burns and was admitted at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital has been detained there for the past fortnight due to the inability of his parents to settle the bills owed.
The treatment of Stephen Otchere cost Ghc 10, 181, a figure his unemployed mother has made clear she would be unable to raise.
However, the hospital is detaining the baby until the debt is settled.
The distraught mother of the boy, Agnes Nkrumah, spoke to Starr News and called on philanthropic agencies to help her settle the bills to get her son back. She said she’s already spent over Ghc 2,000 on treatment and has nothing more to spend.
Agnes told the Starr what happened that led to her baby being burned.
“I was boiling water on a coal pot, so I went to the room to pick something, by the time I returned, the water had poured on my son and he was wallowing in pain,”  she said.
