An iPhone that runs on android? That’s weird but that’s exactly what a young Ghanaian, Bruce Anaba got for his money from a seller he came across on Tonaton.
It’s a hilarious but to Bruce, it comes with pain–to part away with 1500 GHS, thinking he had gotten a good iPhone deal, only to later realize that he has been scammed.
Narrating his story to GhanaCelebrities.Com yesterday, Bruce said:
“I saw an iPhone ad on TONATON and it said 1750. So I negotiated with the seller and agreed on 1400. And later agreed to meet at Dansoman Shell. I went there with a friend to meet the seller, a guy.”
“He brought out the phone and we inspected it and it was an original iPhone since we are both iPhone users and we know what a genuine iPhone looks like. So after we had inspected the phone and was about to make payment for 1400, he said we did not agree on 1400 but 1600.”

“The seller then took back his phone and a called suddenly came through. The phone said he will pay 1600 which I believe was part of the plot. At this point, he had taken the phone from us and was acting like he wanted to leave but still sat in the car.”
“So I decided to make it 1500 for him and he acted reluctantly but later received it and said he gave us the phone because of the journey we’ve made all the way from Tantra to meet him.”
“All this while sat in the back seat of the car while myself and my friend sat in front so I believe he had the fake phone in his pocket or somewhere which he quickly replaced it with the original one we had already inspected.”

“So he gave us back the phone and at this point, it is turned off and he got out and jumped on a motorbike, it was like the rider was waiting for him. I believe the rider was also part of the team and was hiding somewhere. We turned it back on and that is when I realized he had swapped the phone–he has given us a fake one, running on android”
Bruce says, he has since then been calling the number of the seller and initially, it went through without anyone answering it. But now, it’s completely off.
Everyone likes a good bargain but Bruce has gotten more than he bargained for.
