Lil Win has finally come out to address the ‘One Corner’ controversy between himself and Patapaa.
According to the Kumawood actor, the story in the press is wrong and he was actually contacted by Patapaa and not the other way round.
He also complained that Ghanaians have been unfair to him.
The entire controversy surrounds the hit ‘One Corner’ song, composed by Patapaa. The current understanding of the issue is that Lil Win contacted Patapaa for a remix and insisted on ownership of the song, which was turned down. He then went ahead to record his own version of the song ‘Corner Corner’.
However, bringing their side of the story, Lil Win’s spokesperson said the entire thing has been misreported in the press and based on that, Ghanaians have unfairly judged Lil Win.
“It’s very disheartening to hear people lambast you for something you aren’t guilty of.” Abdul Zach Amissah said.
“Lil Win’s objective was to give a young artiste the platform to grow his brand but unfortunately, his good intent has been misinterpreted.”
According to him, Patapaa’s camp actually contacted Lil Win for a feature to raise the young star’s profile. However, there were having challenges with the negotiations and were still trying to iron those out when Patapaa run to the media.
“Before we could conclude on the matter, Patapaa ran to the media to accuse Lil Win of using his popularity to steal his song.” Amissah continued.
“This is where I think Ghanaians have been unfair to Lil Win. They were quick to condemn him without knowing the details. Who can steal a song that is already in the public domain? It’s unfortunate things turned out this way but it’s a great lesson,” he added.
