An Indonesian football player has died after he collided with a teammate during a game and slid into cardiac arrest.
38 year old Choirul Huda, playing for Persela FC, collided with teammate during a league match, suffering “impacts on the chest and lower jaw”.
Medical officers tried to revive him but failed, and transported him to hospital for treatment but that failed as well.
He died at the Dr Soegiri Lamongan hospital in Lamongan, with officials revealing that the impact forced him to have a heart attack.
This is hardly the first time a football player has died on the football field. In 2003, Cameroonian star Marc Vivian-Foe died during a Fifa Confederations Cup game against France. Other players have also suffered scary episodes on the field, with some dying but others surviving and being unable to continue playing.
