At the beginning of October, Lydia Larley Laryea went bald, and all hell broke loose.
As is usual in our neck of the woods, superficial beauty counts more than anything else and the picture she shared was filled with hateful comments, most of which can lead someone into depression.
What most of those commentors did not know was that the decision to go bald was in service of a very noble cause, fighting breast cancer. October is breast cancer awareness month and Larley’s action was in service of that, although most didn’t focus on that and instead threw insults at her.
In the attached video, the campaigner talks about her decision to go bald and using the attention it garnered to do good by propagating the awareness of one of the deadliest diseases being a woman brings.
