Another mass shooting has struck the United States of America as a gunman opened fire on a church in Sutherland Springs, Texas.
The shooter, identified as a ‘young, white male’, was armed with a semi automatic assault rifle when he fired on congregants at the First Baptist Church.
26 people, including the pastor’s teenage daughter, have been reported dead, with at least 20 others injured.
The age of the victims ranged from as young as 5 and as old as 72, the BBC reports.
The perpetrator has been identified as Devin Patrick Kelley, a 26 year old former military officer. Kelly was discharged from the US Air Force in 2014 after he was court martialled for assaulting his wife and children.
Whilst trying to escape, a resident of the town opened fire on Kelly, leading him to drop his own weapon and run.
He was later found dead following the shooting after his car careened offroad.
