The emergence of many churches in Ghana some would say has brought a lot of noise and disturbances to individuals living around such churches. There have been countless clashes between communities and churches on the account of noise making which affects their sleep and peace.
Mostly, people who become bold and stand against such noise making are often referred to as unholy and anti-christ.
Simon Osei Mensah, the Ashanti Regional Minister has indicated that he on one occasion decided to stop a noisy church by cutting electricity supply to the church grounds at Anwomanso in the capital but pondering over it ordered the arrest of the pastor in charge–Rev. Kwame Takye.
“I called the ECG Regional boss to cut power supply to the area so they could not continue the church”, the Minister stressed.
“But the ECG boss refused to obey my order. So I had to storm the place with armed policemen”, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah told the host of Abusua Nkomo–Kwame Adinkra on Monday.
The minister again said that the drumming, high volume in sound system and singing became intolerable and impermissible so he had no option than to storm the premises of the House of Bethel Ministry with armed policemen to cause the arrest of the head pastor and other leaders on a Saturday when church service was ongoing.
It is reported that their arrest was ignited by the many complaints from neighbours about the excessive noise and disturbances from the church during all night services in the locality.
The Regional Minister was accused of being under the influence of alcohol by the leaders of the church.
The Minister denied the claim and said he was acting in accordance with the law.
