A list of the 16 best players on the continent have been released by France Football Magazine, organizers of the Ballon d’Or award and only one Ghanaian player made the list.
North African giants Egypt and Morocco dominated the list, contributing 3 players each. Both teams have qualified to represent Africa at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The only Ghanaian player who made the list was Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Teye Partey. Partey played a key role in the Black Stars even as Ghana failed miserably to qualify for the World Cup.
Partey, however, was not in the starting 11 but merited a spot on the bench.
France Football Magazine, which organizes the annual Ballon d’Or for the World Best Player awards, named the 16 players.
