‘Juju’ Doesn’t Work In Football, I Never Used It — Says ‘Dada’ Dong Bortey

Former Accra Hearts of Oak winger Bernard Dong Bortey, says there’s nothing like ‘juju’ in football, contrary to the widespread belief held by players and club administrators in this country.

Speaking with Happy Fm, Dong Bortey said he never utilized it during his career because as a Christian he doesn’t believe ‘juju’ works.

“I have never used juju to enhance my playing career. I don’t even believe that juju works in football. What is paramount for every player is training and it’s a pre-requisite for success as a player. I’m a Christian hence I don’t believe in juju since it’s against the teachings of the religion.” he said on Anopa Bosuo Sports.

Dong Bortey, whose official age is 34, added that he still believes he has something to add and is hoping to find a team abroad to play for.

“I will play but will like to play abroad and I have things in place to help me travel abroad to play and I believe I will be back into the Black Stars soon. Locally, the team I look at playing for is Elmina sharks.” he said.
