The entire house of parliament approved the appointment of Martin Amidu as special prosecutor Monday after some intense debate on the floor.
With objections being raised by NDC MP Dominic Ayine, Speaker Mike Ocquaye overruled him and called for the vote to be held, which led to Amidu’s approval.
The vote on the floor of the house followed the Appointment Committee approving the former Attorney General’s candidacy.
President Nana Akufo-Addo nominated the former NDC minister for the role earlier this year and he was vetted by Parliament’s Appointment Committee last week.
Despite a suit at the Supreme Court challenging his appointment, Parliament went ahead to approve him.
