Federal District Court in Manhattan has sentenced rapper DMX born Earl Simmons to a 12 months jail term on the charge of tax evasion.
The judge Jed S. Rakoff reportedly listened to the rappers song slippin with his lawyer Murray Richman attributing the song to how hard Dmx’ life has been.
According to TMZ, the rapper was first arrested July last year and was charged with 14 cases of tax fraud which he pled not guilty to any of them and paid $500,000 to be released on bail, but later pled guilty to one count in November as part of a deal with authorities.
He was slapped with his sentence yesterday, Wednesday 28th March. The judge concluded that he is a good man yet he will be under three years watch after he serves the 12 months.
