Call Your Music 'Rudebwoy Highlife' And Stop Claiming Dancehall King – Rex Omar Advises Shatta Wale

There are many who wonder exactly what type of music genre Gbee Naabu is really into because one day he’s doing konko music, next thing you know he’s doing Afropop or hiplife or whatever but he still insists he’s the “Dancehall King”. Maybe Shatta Wale is just versatile like that but according to Rex Omar it’s high time he rebranded himself and call the kind of music he does “rudebwoy highlife” because that is exactly what he does and not dancehall as he claims.
According to the veteran highlife musician, Rex Owusu Marfo aka Rex Omar who is also the Chairman of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), Charles Nii Armah Mensah aka Shatta Wale ska Gbee Naabu would be better placed to put Ghana on the map internationally if he stops claiming to be a dancehall star and honestly call his music exactly what it is, which is rude highlife. Speaking to Kwaku Sintim Misa on the KSM Show, the GHAMRO boss said Shatta Wale is very good at what he does but what he dos is not dancehall, and by claiming to do dancehall music he is only promoting other people’s music instead of promoting Ghanaian music.
He said most of Shatta Wale’s hit songs are actually highlife songs and because he is so rude he might as well just call his music rudebwoy highlife and be the undisputed king of that customized genre. “With his rudeness and all that, if he has called his highlife maybe rudebwoy highlife or something like that then it would have taken our music somewhere else,” he said.
He said original Ghanaian music such as  Adowa, Asikyi Odonsun, Apatampa, Kwaw, Agbadza and Boboobo and the likes were the trend before the arrival of the colonial masters, who prefered to jam them all up and call them highlife music. Meanwhile, Shatta Wale has released a new music video which is trending on social media with almost 100,000 views on Youtube since it was released just yesterday. Peep the video below
