Missionary Church of Christ’s Pastor, Reverend Doctor Dan Owusu Asiamah has disclosed that using money to pay tithe is not Biblical and that churches involved in collecting tithes in the form of money are flouting the laws of God.
Answering the question of whether Jesus Christ paid tithes in an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz said;
“When you go to the Old Testament, God only demanded the Children of Israel to pay tithe. No other nation was asked to pay it.”
He added that it is an act of defrauding when any church asks its members to pay tithe in the form of money.”Paying tithe in monetary forms now is fraud”.
He supported his answer with a quotation taking from the book of Deuteronomy Chapter 14 verse 24 verse 26. which reads;
“But if that place is too distant and you have been blessed by the Lord your God and cannot carry your tithe (because the place where the Lord will choose to put his Name is so far away), 25 then exchange your tithe for silver, and take the silver with you and go to the place the Lord your God will choose. 26 Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the presence of the Lord your God and rejoice”, he quoted
