The National Democratic Congress held its regional elections yesterday across all the 10 regions of Ghana. The elections saw a lot of bigwigs in the party losing some key positions in the regional contest.
Among the bigwigs in the party who were looking forward to be a part of the regional executives of the party who failed to make it is a former Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports who also served as a Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister when John Dramani Mahama was president. He was also once the Ashanti Regional Secretary for the party–Mr. Joseph Yamin.

Mr. Joseph Yamin polled 611 votes as against Mr. Augustus Andrew Nana Akwasi who won with 699 votes, according to the statement of poll declared by the Electoral Commission of Ghana.

The NDC Ashanti Regional Elections took place at Tweneboah Kodua Senior High School. Before voting started it was reported that Mr Yamin stormed the place with “Machomen” which led to a little bit of scuffle. It was Johnson Asiedu Nketia the General Secretary of the party who was supervising the elections who calmed the nerves of these men before voting went on smoothly.
Congratulations to Augustus Andrew Nana Akwasi for emerging victorious and a better luck next time to Joseph Yamin.
