The NPP government promised us all a lot of things before coming into office. To say their performance so far in comparison to their promises has been a disappointment would be an understatement.
The cedi they promised to arrest is galloping, cost of living continues to soar, fuel prices are rising and salaries remain stagnant.
Peace Fm presenter Kwame Sefa Kayi, the vaunted Chairman General of the airwaves, has decided to ‘mark’ the performance of the government and he expresses disappointment like most Ghanaians.
According to Sefa Kayi, the government scores a measly 4 out of 10 for their work so far.
“It does not lie in my mouth to say that government has bitten more than it can chew. There were so many promises it is obvious that you cannot judge them fully in 18 months but it is [also] obvious that they are overwhelmed a bit by things around them,” he said.
He added that the dollar has shown the government ‘real pepper’, arguing that “It is up to those who have the expertise and experience to ensure that it comes down or it stays there”.
He commended government for other programs such as free education, planting for food and jobs and other agriculture policies.
