GC Exclusive: Roselyn Ngissah Talks About Her Body Size, ‘Somewhere In Africa’, Upcoming Projects, Working With Other Ghanaian Actors & More…

Roselyn Ngissah
Roselyn Ngissah

‘Somewhere In Africa’ premieres on Saturday, 30th July, 2011 at the National Theatre,Accra.

As we prepare to see one of the best movies to have come out ofGhana, GhanaCelebrities.Com caught up with the 2010 Ghana Movie Awards’ Best Actress-Roselyn Ngissah who plays a central role in the movie for a chit chat.

Roselyn is undoubted a very good actress with a lot of potential to hit the bigger screens. We spoke about ‘Somewhere In Africa’, her body size, working with other stars and then Roselyn had a little but golden advice for all the young girls who are aspiring to get into the game.

GhanaCelebrities.Com: What Is Your Role In ‘Somewhere In Africa’ About?

I’m the second in command to the commander himself, Mumbasa who is played by Majid Michel. In my role I take orders from Mumbasa. It’s quite a challenging role as I was terrorizing and killing innocent people not for any reason but because I was ordered to do it.

GhanaCelebrities.Com: What Did You Find Challenging About This Role?

Playing a character that was so militant was very challenging; also this was the first of this kind of character that I’ve ever acted. I’m always playing the naughty girl, the funny girl, professional girl such as a Dr or Lawyer.

In this role I had to play a soldier which was quite physically demanding and meant I had to do a lot of running around. The role really required me to be strong and fit. When I first got the role I have to admit I was taken aback by what would be involved.

I was thinking about my body size and how I look, I was thinking I’m not just any soldier but second in command. Initially I wanted to hit the gym but the director explained that he’d given me a challenging role to do and knows I am more than capable, so I had no other choice but to get into it.

Also when I arrived on set I wasn’t even aware that I would have to change my accent. I had already rehearsed and got myself into character and once I got on set I was told that they had decided to change the accent and this is how they want me to speak.

If I Were Yvonne Nelson, I Would Serve My Entire Ban & Then Ban Myself After…Says Ghana Movie Awards’ Founder ‘Fred Nuamah’

Yvonne Nelson

We have read and heard a lot from various industry stakeholders on the controversial ban which was imposed on Actress Yvonne Nelson nearly a year ago. As at now, the state of this ban (whether it is still in force or not) cannot be clearly ascertained.

Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), the industry machinery behind the ban has strongly insisted that the ban is still in force whiles Abdul Salam-the person Yvonne Nelson was said to have grossly subjected to contempt is saying he has forgiven her. Though Salam’s recent statements to a greater extent suggest that the ban has been lifted, we are still kept in the dark by FIPAG.

Out Of Box Story: 45 Ghanaians deported from Nigeria…What The Heck!

blank

I cannot even count the number of Anagos currently parading their arrogance on the streets of Ghana without any problem. Ghanaians have hospitality and have welcomed Nigerians as brothers and sisters.

Despite all the various allegations of  some Nigerians having settled in Ghana to cause havoc and subjecting the system to fraud and other illegal activities, Ghanaians have not kicked any Nigerian out of Ghana.

How come Nigerians are being hostile to the few Ghanaians who have found their way into their country? Gosh…Read below for more

…………………………………………………………………………………………

Another batch of 21 Ghanaians has been deported from Nigeria, bringing the number so far deported on the orders of Nigerian two state governors to 45.

The Nigerian High Commissioner in Accra, Mohammed Musiliu Obanikoro, has however frowned upon the action, promising to wade into it immediately.

Earlier on July 14, 2011, 24 Ghanaians were arrested and deported to Ghana – unable to pick their belongings before the unexpected action. The batch was made up of 21 men, 2 women and a girl.

In both instances, the deportations were ordered by state governors in the most populous African country which runs a federal system in which foreign affairs, defence and internal affairs are the preserves of the federal government in Abuja.

Details available to Daily Guide suggest that the latest bout of deportation saw the rounding up of 21 persons upon the orders of the Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, in Western Nigeria.

The deportees were arrested on July 16, 2011 and kept in confinement without allowing them to pick their belongings until their final forced exit from Nigeria a few days ago.

With the thought of leaving their belongings behind pinching them, the deportees were taken to the Nigeria/Benin border by road and handed over to the immigration authorities of that country.

The Beninois authorities then moved the deportees to their country’s border with Togo, Hilla Kondji, from where they were transported to the Togo/Ghana border of Aflao and handed over to Ghanaian authorities.

Daily Guide learnt that the deportees at this point were handed over to National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in the Ketu North District of the Volta Region.

Leave Akosua Puni Alone, Says Stephen Appiah + A Gist On The Whole Akosua Puni Saga…

Akosua Puni, Appiah & Essien
Akosua Puni, Appiah & Essien

Akosua Puni again? Let’s try to see if we can go through a rundown on this Akosua Puni ‘chick’ woman. Until I was chipped the gist that the one time rumoured girlfriend of Ghanaian footballer Stephen Appiah was allegedly warming Michael Essien’s bed after jilting the former, I did not know much about Akosua Puni.

For some reason, I find some unidentified sacarsm in the name Akosua Puni any time I come across it. I decided at the time to open my ears and placed countless phone calls to see what my contacts could fetch me on Akosua Puni.

The rumour did not rest, it stretched it wings to fetch Okomfo Kwadee as also having one time had an affair with this same Akosua Puni, a relationship which allegedly gave Puni a child. The rumour on Akosua Puni and Kwadee’s baby saga further said, Akosua Puni did not acknowledge Kwadee as the baby’s father since the latter’s musical career was at the time sinking fast like the great Titanic ship. I can’t mention who was given the paternity of this child…

The Gossip of Akosua Puni and Kwadee having ever had a relationship, a baby and also Akosua playing an instrumental role in Kwadee becoming crazy reached the camp of Okomfo,  Kwadee then came out to deny ever having any sort of sexual relationship with Akosua Puni- the chick who speaks some sort of hybrid English.

Let’s fast forward things….I am told Akosua Puni used to manage Stephen Appiah and at the time of this professional relationship, the two got into a further unprofessional relationship. It is alleged that, the two starting seeing each other to satisfy their off duty and personal needs.

This is where the Gossip gets complicated, interesting and superstitious. Stephen Appiah under the management of Akosua Puni sustained an injury that brought his career to pause. An injury which sent the talented footballer on a long unappreciated leave.  Now let’s look at where the superstition comes in.

People are saying (this is still a Gossip),  Stephen Appiah’s inury is some how connected to the warming of Akosua Puni’s bed and that whoever gets down there receives some sort of bad luck-curse.  These gossipers are quickly to back their superstition with the incident of Kwadee going mad after allegedly having a sexual relationship with Akosua Puni. Hmmm!

This is where it gets extra interesting….For whatever reason, Akosua Puni started managing Michael Essien and was spotted out and about with him at several high profiled events. Akosua Puni was once spotted with Nadia Buari in London at a time when Essien and Nadia were an item. I therefore think Akosua knew about the relationship between Nadia Buari and Michael Essien.
