Ghana Ranks 1st In “WEE” Use In Africa And 3rd In The World

blankErnestina Adjei, the Acting Head of Education of the Narcotics Control Board, has revealed that Ghana has still been ranked as the leading user of Marijuana in Africa and third in the world according to latest United Nations (UN) reports on the use of  illicit drugs in the world.

She made this disclosure in an interview with GBC. According to her, the latest UN world report on drug use also revealed that about 22 percent of Ghanaians of School going age are engaged in drug abuse, a situation she described as worrying.

In view of this, the Drug Law Enforcement Unit of the Ghana Police Service has hinted it will embark on an outreach program for students and teachers in the various educational institutions about the negative implications of the use of illicit drugs.

Police Officer Beats The Hell Out Of Taxi Driver Over GHC100

A police officer has allegedly beaten a taxi driver to pulp at Gomoa Akotsi-Ojobi in the Central Region Tuesday afternoon.

Narrating the incident to journalist, Francis Opoku, the Vice Chairman for Gomoa Akotsi – Ojobi bus station said, the police officer – whose name was only given as Corporal Charles – stationed at Senya Breku but on duty at the Kasoa police station subjected the taxi driver, Meshach Armah to severe beating after the driver failed to give him GHC100 he requested from the driver for wrongful parking.

“The police officer demanded money from the driver which he refused and then after some few minutes, the police officer came back to beat the driver mercilessly” he said.

Singer, Sean Kingston has filed court documents stating that he has less than $500 in his bank accounts and owns no property or cars and lives with his mother, Janice Turner in Los Angeles.

He made this revelations in a legal battle with lawyer James J. Gangitano over unpaid legal fees.

Gangitano sued Kingston in 2015, for refusing to pay up $12,500 worth of legal work he did in defending him. The lawyer reached a deal with Kingston in early 2016 after filing the suit. Kingston agreed to pay $20,000 in installments between April 2016 and January 2017 and if he missed a payment he would pay an entire amount of $14,500 immediately.

Meet The 37-year-old Woman Who Has Given Birth To 38 Children

blankA Ugandan woman is reported to have given birth to a jaw-dropping 38 children and she is only 37 years old.

Mariam Nabatanzi, who hails from the Kabimbiri village in Uganda, has been dubbed “the most fertile woman” after she has been reported to have 38 children, all from the same man.

Nabatanzi has delivered all her children home except the last born who is four months old. She was delivered by caesarean section. Among her children are six sets of twins, four sets of triplets, three sets of quadruples and single births. Ten of her children are girls and the rest are boys with the oldest being 23 years old while the youngest four months.

She was married off to a 40 year old man when she was 12 years old in 1993.

“I did not know I was being married off. People came home and brought things for my father. When time came for them to leave, I thought I was escorting my aunt but when I got there, she gave me away to the man.”
“My husband was polygamous with many children from his past relationships who I had to take care of because their mothers were scattered all over. He was also violent and would beat me at any opportunity he got even when I suggested an idea that he didn’t like,” she recounts.

31 Chinese Illegal Miners Deported In Zambia

blankIt seems it is not only in Ghana that the Chinese are involved in illegal mining. China’s Foreign Ministry reported on Wednesday that 31 of its nationals that were being held in Zambia for illegal mining have been deported from the African country. The 31 people deported included a pregnant woman and two victims of malaria.

Although China complained that Zambia provided no strong evidence of the crimes committed but the suspects arrested, Zambian immigration chief told the media that the Chinese would have to be deported for violating the laws of the country.

GH¢50m Payroll Fraud Uncovered At Youth Employment Agency (YEA)

blankA GH¢50 million payroll fraud has been uncovered at the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) after the agency conducted an internal audit.

According to the finding of the audit, the GH¢50 million is an aggregation of unearned allowances paid to beneficiaries who are not posted, funds for official use which were paid into personal accounts, as well as procurements without adherence to due process.

Speaking at a press conference, Mr. Justine Kodua Frimpong, the acting Chief Executive of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) said about 2,716 beneficiaries did not have appointment letters, while 9,442 beneficiaries were above the age required. Another group of 4,681 beneficiaries, also vacated their post, while 14,443 beneficiaries were simply non-existent.
