REVIEW: e.tv Ghana ‘Late Night Celebrity Show’ is Now A Living-Dead-Show

etv_ghana

E–TV’s ‘Late Night Celebrity Show,’ as the name suggests, is a late night entertainment programme in which various celebrities panoptic from any sect of our showbiz industry; music, movies, broadcasters, comedy, poetry, painting, event organizers, academia, sports, religion, etc. are celebrated or brought closer to their fans.

Though the programme which started some years ago has thrilled its fans with interactive celebrity interviews, it is currently one of the most boring television shows I watch on E-TV and below are my observations for opining so:

Recycling Of Celebrities

They are recycling the same celebs they’ve interviewed over and over again and over! It’s boring watching the same faces on the same platform again and again, saying the same things over and over again.

We still have many celebs who have not been on the show ever before; so why recycle those you’ve interviewed many times again? It portrays lack of hard work on the part of the whole production team.

Pairing Of Celebrities

From the first time I saw celebrities being paired on the programme, I said to myself, these people will have problem with content (celebs) someday. The evidence is clear now! That is why the team is now recycling the old celebs they have hosted before.

Apart from the pairing causing recycling of the celebs, it doesn’t give the host ample time and dedicated focus to probe each celebrity well or enough. Many a time, the programme ends without the host ‘drilling’ the two celebs enough, because, the host either concentrated too much on one person at the expense of the other or sometimes, some flippant celebrities wag their tongues too much – taking the shine off the other person.

The Host Is a Put Off

Though the current host, Leila, is trying her dead level best, the more she tries, the less intriguing she makes the show and the more irksome the show gets. From the first day she started hosting the programme till now, she has not been able to muster common ‘intro’ of the show; not to talk of her inability to ask or put erudite and thought-provoking questions at her guests.

She’s not a good interviewer. Most of her questions are trite and banal! She is not well informed on subject matters and mostly lacks facts about the very issues and people she interrogates and hosts respectively. She mostly gets her facts wrong! There is no art in her presentation skills. She is generally off putting. Indeed, she is the main reason (aside the other reasons) why the show is ho-hum!

Lifestyle Guide: Do You Love Turkish Food? Try Gokyuzu and Kervan in North London, UK

Gokyuzu and Kervan in North London
Gokyuzu and Kervan in North London

I don’t think I ask much when it comes to choosing a great place to eat out but for me an ideal restaurant is one where you get to sit in an attractive environment whilst eating a good meal that’s also good for you. Then at the end of the night you can pull out your purse or wallet without squinting at the bill…like I was saying I don’t ask for much!

It was definitely a delicious treat when me and the girls decided to try out a new local Turkish restaurant in North London Woodgreen, Gokyuzu and Kervan. Don’t let the ‘local’ get to you, it’s anything but local food.

As you can imagine North London is not shy of several other Turkish restaurants to choose from, in fact on the very same road, there are another two Turkish restaurants I’ve also tried. However the classy looking eatery of Gokyuzu and Kervan lures you in as you are given a view of the take away section of delicious and savoury looking food on display that can be spied from outside of the restaurant.

An already established food chain, the popular Kervan restaurant is known for its delicious menus to most in North London. It’s a mix of Mediterranean foods such as meats, salads, humus Turkish seasoned bread and buckwheat roasted in seasoned plum tomato sauce…it really is just GOOD food.

I was more than impressed with the setting and environment, very classy and the service was great. It’s also plush enough for a b-day, anniversary or first date.

There were 3 very lively birthdays happening on the top second floor…it got lively, perfect Saturday night out. However if you prefer it a bit calmer then the lower ground was a lot more low-key.

I love the Turkish food custom of providing the starters of tzatziki, humus and Turkish bread that you’re not billed for.

Why Are Females Not Doing Standup Comedy in Ghana? Female ‘Showbizers’ Share Their Opinions

Comedy
Comedy

Some females are quite excelling in various forms of Ghana’s art and entertainment industry, but, in the world of comedy, it appears no female is ready to risk the adventure.

The issue of the bedraggled state of Ghana’s comedy industry has been discussed on almost every entertainment program across the country. Spotting the light on standup comedy, the gender that is dominating is the males.

The question therefore is; where are the females? As much as the females are fiercely competing with males in the other forms of our art and entertainment industry, they are totally missing when it comes to the comedy fraternity.

Currently, there’s no female standup comedian in Ghana. All the standup comedians are males – David Oscar, Funny Face, Khemical, Percy, James Brown, DKB and others. Our neighbouring country, Nigeria, can at least boast of celebrated female standup comedians such as; Lakpacious, Mandy, Helen, Princess and others (though there could be more I’m not privy to). It is on record that Mandy is the first female who started standup comedy in Nigeria.

Females in the Ghana’s art and entertainment or showbiz industry are playing pivotal roles and are excelling in other fields of our art industry. Taking film making for instance; Shirley Frimpong Manson and Leila Afua Djansi are both doing phenomenal!

Turning the radar to music; we have the likes of Akosua Agyapong, Cecilia Marfo, Eazzy, Efya, Becca, Kaakie, etc. all doing excellent! Ama Atta Aidoo and Efua T. Sutherland have put Ghana on the international scene as far as storytelling – through play or drama and novels is concerned!

On the movie or acting front are: Jackie Appiah, Yvonne Nelson, Nadia Buari, Martha Ankomah, Yvonne Okoro, etc. In broadcasting circles are Doreen Andoh, Gifty Anti, and Jessica Opare Saforo; who are top-drawer female broadcasters in Ghana.

The apropos questions worth mulling over are: don’t females in Ghana have strong comedy incisions? Are they scared or intimidated by the savvy jest and wit of the male standup comedians? Are they afraid of being called “fools” as some ignoramuses’ term comedians in Ghana? Or are they simply not given the opportunity?

Ayittey Powers Cancels Fight With Bukom Banku Because TB Joshua Asked Him Not To Fight

Ayitey Powers and Banku

So many ignorant entertainers and sportsmen in this country make it so hard for people especially international investors to take us seriously.

How does an entertainer insult his fans and the public like this by totally ridiculing everyone involved? I shudder to think about the people who have put money into making this whole event possible.

Ayittey Powers has reportedly pulled out of the Boxing match scheduled for 18th of April for which thousands of tickets have already been sold and many think this is a very extreme act of indiscipline and cowardice.

The fight between him and Bukom Banku has been filled with hilarious moments and funny acts. The two have openly mocked and ridiculed each other, an act which was considered as part of publicity.

Powers was recently rumoured to have visited the popular Prophet TB Joshua for fortification prayers prior to the fight but many people made jokes about it till he said he has been advised by TB Joshua not to fight on that particular day as it would spell a lot of doom for him. The Holy Spirit directed TB Joshua to tell Ayittey Powers that the date is not good for him to fight.

Do You Want A Big BACKSIDE? Scientists Say Sitting Around Makes Your Bum BIG

blackwoman-ass1

Do you want a big backside—the natural way?  Even when there were no scientific backing, many of us knew sitting on buckets and other stuff help shape your bum—and make the bum big…

I remember how several of my friends use to sit on buckets for dinner and when chit chatting during my secondary school days, so to get give their backsides that perfect shape and size…

Scientist have found that, the more you sit down, the more fat cells in the buttocks expand creating a rounder derriere—casing a fat backside…

line

According to MailOnline;

Scientists at Tel Aviv University revealed that ‘cellular expansion’ plays a key role in fat production because the pressure on cells causes them to increase in size by 50 per cent.

They analysed the accumulation of fat cells in the body and found that nutrition only plays a small role in keeping slim.

Professor Amit Gefen, from the Department of Biomedical Engineering said: ‘We wanted to find out why a sedentary lifestyle results in obesity, other than making time to eat more hamburgers.

‘We found that fat cells exposed to sustained, chronic pressure – such as what happens to the buttocks when you’re sitting down – experienced accelerated growth of lipid droplets, which are molecules that carry fats.

Music Council of Ghana Scares Ministry of Tourism With A Massive Demonstration Come 14th March, 2014

Ekow Micah1
Ekow Micah-Music Council of Ghana

The Music Council of Ghana (MCG) issued a serious threat to the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts through a letter, informing the former of a massive peaceful demonstration they intended to embark on.

On Thursday 27th Feb, 2014, GhanaCelebrities.Com got hold of a gist that the Music Council of Ghana served the ministry with a ‘harsh toned’ letter, informing it of a demonstration they intend to embark on today Tuesday 4th March, 2014 without giving any reasons for their intended action to the ministry.

According to our source, by Friday 28th Feb, 2014, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts called the office of MCG, prevailing upon them to call off their demonstration or have a meeting with the ministry to address whatever issues the MCG has; but, the President of MCG, Mr. Nester Ekow Micah, declined any seating or meeting.

Mr. Micah told the ministry that since he wrote officially to inform them on a subject matter and not through a phone call, the latter shouldn’t call for his attention for a meeting through a mere phone call. Our source revealed that Mr. Micah therefore insisted that the ministry send an official letter to his outfit before he will heed to whatever they had to say.

For reasons best known to the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, they re-directed MCG’s letter to the National Commission on Culture, directing the Commission to have a meeting with the MCG to discuss the latter’s petition to enable the Honourable Minister address them.

Below is a copy of the letter GhanaCelebrities.Com had from our source:

Akua Donkor Says ‘I’ll Sue Nana Addo, He’s A Thief, He Stole My Free SHS Education Policy’

Akua Donkor

Politics in Ghana gets funny sometimes—and I guess we need that to kill off the tension. With NPP screaming for the past week that the NDC has somehow stolen their FREE SHS Educational Policy/Campaign promise, and the NDC saying otherwise, things have taken a different turn.

Madam Akua Donkor has jumped into the debate to label Nana Akufo Addo a thief, claiming that the latter stole her FREE SHS Educational policy…

line

According to PeaceFm;

The Founder and leader of Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Akua Donkor has labeled the 2012 Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) a “thief”.

According to her, the ‘Free SHS Education’ policy which some NPP members including their 2012 flagbearer have claimed ownership was exclusively introduced by her though she did not get the nod from the Electoral Commission (EC) to pursue that dream as a Presidential candidate in the 2012 polls.

Stressing on her policy, she said the ‘Free SHS Education’ was boldly written on her posters during the 2012 election campaign and everyone saw it but because she did not meet the requirements of the EC, it was ‘stolen’ by the NPP.
