The Dream; What is The Ghanaian Dream?

Wedding

In many countries including some African countries, the dream of many people is beyond the ordinary.

It goes beyond simply being alive to living the life that you have in full and without dogmatic social restrictions. It involves you making conscious and feasible choices.

In Ghana, many of us have lost track of the dream and given in to a lower level of making a day to day living.

Women especially are less motivated and not eager to achieve beyond their immediate world. When a young woman leaves school, what are the expectations? Right after University, the most prominent among questions she receives from both friends and relatives is; ‘when are you getting married?’ They will not ask about her job or how her pays her bills or who will even finance the marriage.

At weddings she will be grilled, at funerals, birthdays and any small gathering, she will be asked ten times. There is a saying that the education and development of the women in a country go a long way to determine the level of development of the country in general and I believe in this…

Educated and achieving women have children who are more likely to grow up right and achieve higher.

PHOTOS: Miss World Africa and Second Runner-up-Miss World 2013, Carranzar Naa Okailey Shooter Visits Alma Mater-Mfantsiman Girls

Naa Okailey Shooter (2)

The reigning Miss World Africa, and second runner-up, Miss World 2013, Carranzar Naa Okailey Shooter, has interacted with students and teachers of the Mfantsiman Girls’ Senior High School in the Central Region.

Miss Shooter, an old student of the school was a special guest at the school’s 2013 SRC Week Celebration, which rounded off last Saturday, with a lecture on making the right tertiary education choices.

Together with two other resource persons, Miss Shooter tasked the students to make carefully thought out decisions in choosing which schools and courses they would like to take on at the tertiary level, as that would greatly influence their career choices in future.

“Making the right choice at this stage of your life is very important so if you are having problems, pray to God for guidance and direction and thereafter you can seek advice from older people who have been there before and they will serve as guide for you”, she said.

She advised the students that long before they enter senior high school, they should have an idea of what they want to be in future as that will help them to make informed choices.

Why I DELETED My Facebook & Instagram Accounts | An Online Life Ruled By Deceit

black woman stressed

I have been off Facebook and Instagram for some months now after I realized most of the things I was getting jealous about were staged and deceit plated…

In fact, I think I am happier today than I was some months ago when through Facebook status and photos updates, I thought my life was one hell of a sh*t hole.

Like most people on Facebook and Instagram do, these social media platforms were my morning coffee and my late night tea—checking the platforms religiously each morning and before I sleep. And I’ve not added the number of times I sneak my way unto there while at work.

Anytime I log on, I get to see interesting updates in words and photos from friends and those I do not even know but have somehow added me—-I called them the virtual world buddies.

With time, I became jealous of most of my friends—believing they were living a dream life while I continue to starve on the beauty of life.

Friends were going on holidays, visiting places and meeting some interesting people while I continue to work my butt off—-and at the end of the month, I still had nothing to show for it.

The status updates were the real killers.  Each week, I get to read things like; my boyfriend just made my day… Having a dinner with BF….Packing to go away….He just popped the question and I said Yes…

Which single girl looking for all the above will not feel a little jealous and the pressure to re-evaluate her life each day?

Time to Re-write the Bible: Scripture DO Support Same-Sex Marriages….Claims A Female Baptist Pastor Married to a Female Bishop

lesbians kissing

Stories like this just put a smile on my face. I mentioned to someone that God created everybody in his/her own image so we all must embrace homosexuality. I was condemned to the hottest part of hell so is it surprising for a female Baptist pastor to marry a female Bishop and justify her actions with the same bible.

A Christian swingers website was also set up for Christian married couples to share and exchange partners and used the same bible to justify their adulterous actions…(forgetting the commandment – Thou shalt not commit adultery). It’s time to re-write the bible otherwise heaven will be empty.

According to the Christian Post, A fiery female Baptist pastor from Detroit shocked conservatives in her church and triggered a rift among the membership when she resigned after revealing she married a female bishop from Washington, D.C several months ago, charging that the Bible supports it.

Bishop Allyson D. Nelson Abrams was once married to a man and became the first female pastor of the Zion Progress Baptist Church.  Abrams, who is also a mother, revealed to the congregation she had pastored for five years that she was in love with Diana Williams, a bishop emeritus with the Imani Temple African-American Catholic Congregation in Washington, D.C.

She resigned after revealing her Sapphic nuptial to Williams, which took place in March in Iowa where same-sex marriage is legal.

She also resigned as secretary of the Council of Baptist Pastors of Detroit and Vicinity, an influential group of African-American Christians in metro Detroit. She stepped down as co-editor of the magazine of the Progressive National Baptist Convention as well, according to the report.

ON SECOND THOUGHT: Don’t Take Kwaw Kese ‘ABODAM’ For Granted!

Kwaw-Kese

It is true that, the boy who always cried wolf was not taken serious when the wolf actually appeared because the people of the town stopped falling for his games. This is exactly what has happened to the self acclaimed “King of the Streets”.

Not so long ago, viewers of the street edition of the Vodafone Icons were alarmed by reports of a disruption of events that took place during the finals of the reality show. Kwaw Kese allegedly climbed onto the stage to show disagreement on the decision to name Ryan winner of this year’s edition of the show.

Many, including myself immediately reacted to this news horrified by the act in a way, so I decided to reserve my comments and wait patiently for the recorded airing of the show on TV to see for myself what really happened. My first reaction was that of disappointment, and in a way sided with Kwaw Kese.

This is because; with nothing else interesting to watch on our screens, I followed the show faithfully right from the rainy outdoor auditions to the street carnival they had in Osu. There is no doubt that this year’s edition was very interesting and the talents showcased were a little better than before.

Buda’s selection brought some variety and spice to the show, Zakia’s energy was unbeatable, Marian’s attitude on stage was breathtaking and Ryan’s looks and voice were very impressive. I wasn’t too impressed with neither the band nor the fact that two of the three judges did not understand “Twi” or any other local languages in which the contestants sang. But above all, the show was entertaining.

In as much as we all agree Kwaw Kese’s outburst was not in any way the best in showcasing one’s displeasure, I would ask that his words are not just pushed aside totally. This is no small allegation to make and as such corned industry persons need to really approach Kwaw Kesse, and begin serious investigations into the matter in which I strongly believe it can be more true than false.

Vodafone has come out to debunk the allegation but I also suggest that they carry their own investigations within their company if they “claim” they had absolutely nothing to do with the case of bribery.
