It’s not all the time that an African celebrity gets to be invited to the Buckingham Place—even if it’s for a reception, let alone to meet the Queen of England.

So it was a big deal when Nollywood actress-Stephanie Linus attended the Queen’s Young Leaders Award reception last night, set up by the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust in partnership with Comic Relief and the Royal Commonwealth Society.

She was invited and she attended with her husband-Linus Idahosa to be part of the guests who witnessed the Queen awarding 60 people for their contribution to humanity.

“Winners aged 18-29 were chosen from 35 Commonwealth countries, and as well as receiving their awards at Buckingham Palace they will David Cameron at Downing Street, visit Twitter and the BBC and take part in a two-day leadership course at Cambridge University,” writes The Telegraph.

Anyway, Nigerian actress-Stephanie Linus and her husband made sure they took some selfies while inside Buckingham Place–and they were also captured when they met Queen Elizabeth II.

VIDEO: South African Pastor Steps On People To Perform Deliverance; Commands Congregation To Eat Hair, Cloth, And Other Items He Claims To Have Changed Into Food

WTF
WTF

People often say what’s the harm of religion? It helps people do good things, and brings a lot more people comfort and meaning to their lives. However, juxtapose it with it’s harmful parts, such as this appalling story you’re about to read; and you see it’s just not worth it.

You see, the problem is the one thing that lies at the centre of every religion- faith. Once you suspend reason and take that first step to believe in sky fairies, everything is possible. Then a pastor can tell you grass or of a piece of cloth is food, and you’ll happily gobble it down.

A South African pastor, one Prophet Penuel of the End Time Disciples Ministries, is kind of notorious for doing the above. He prays over pieces of cloth, wrapping paper, or someone’s hair, and then tells his congregation that it is food. People then come forward, eat, and proclaim the hair or cloth tastes like Macaroni and Cheese.

Of course waist trainers do not work but for Obour, the Ga gods will make it work—they are capable of doing bigger things so this shouldn’t be a problem.

Don’t get it wrong; that is a man out there—though he looks 16 months pregnant, he is not. It’s all good living and cash.

Corruption in Ghana | 5 Leaked BECE Papers Cancelled…The Society is Rotten At All Levels

BECE pupils
BECE pupils

I’ve always argued that contrary to Ghanaians pointing fingers at politicians as corrupt individuals; almost every ordinary Ghanaian is involved in some sort of corrupt enterprise in his or her backyard. Again, the fact that the politicians are regularly selected from the pool Ghanaians shows that they are no different from the masses.

The Ghanaian society is pathetically rotten at all levels—and the only way we can deal with corruption which is costing us both money and our integrity is to tackle it from the grass root.

No country is immune from examination malpractices and question leakages but in Ghana, this is just not a misfortune, it’s a convention. Both the learning and teaching units go all out to look for examination questions—and some institutions as well as individuals pay huge sums of money to actually get their hands on these materials.

At that level, we may not consider such actions as corruption or thievery—we may think we are being smart, trying to play the system to obtain what we do not deserve.

Our leaders have this same mind-set; awarding a contract to a Nephew who does not deserve it does not amount to corruption, it’s just playing smart or beating the system.

Almost each year, examination papers are leaked in Ghana and if you’ve not perched this tradition alongside the hovering national epidemic-corruption, take a few minutes to do so. It’s all about cheating; and we actually entertain this from the lowest level of our educational systems.

During my Secondary School days, several students stayed up till dawn—and don’t get me wrong, they were not learning. They were making ‘tiny books’ where they would write key information. These books were mostly smuggled into examination halls—for them, they were being smart but for us all, it’s the beginning of dishonesty, the foundation of corruption.

Nana Akuffo Addo Calls For Cease Fire In Current NPP Disagreements: Read Full Statement

Nana Addo Dankwah
Nana Addo Dankwah

The flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party,  Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo,  this afternoon addressed party faithful and the nation in an attempt to calm the waters of acrimony and violence that has engulfed the party.

The NPP has been in a state of intense disagreements in recent weeks,  over the alleged role of chairman Paul Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong in the death of the deceased Upper East regional chairman Adams Mahama.

This has led to more disagreements and more clashes, none of which is casting the party in any sort of good light. Akuffo Addo’s statement is the attempt to stop the madness and get the party back to the level where Ghanaians feel they’re a viable alternative to the current clueless,  corrupt,  and incompetent tenure of the NDC.

In his speech,  the flag bearer called for a cease fire between all factions within the party.  He said the violence tarnishes the memory of the late chairman,  and calls on law enforcement to deal with the culprits.

Most importantly,  everyone should remember the party has an election to win in 18 months time. This is not the time to be divided.

Read the full speech delivered by Nana Addo below…

Fox Television Green Lights New Show ‘Lucifer’ For 2016 Premiere

Lucifer
Lucifer

Imagine in the near future Satan gets tired of running hell, so he leaves the underworld and retires to Los Angeles to run a bar named ‘Lux’.

Blasphemous, right? Yet that’s the premise of a new show set to air on Fox in 2016, the eponymously titled supernatural drama Lucifer. Of course if the devil retired he’d go to America, and of course he’d go to Los Angeles.

Fox has green lighted the show to go ahead, starring Tom Ellis in the main role of Lucifer Morningstar. Apparently, he ‘is bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell and resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the beauty of Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals’

Man Killed In Somalia For Insulting The Prophet Mohammed

WTF
WTF

Once again these people feeling so obligated to defend a long death prophet who was supposed to be a good man standing for good values- somehow the irony always eludes these barbarians.

Prominent people always get jabs thrown their way- yet no one kills anyone for insulting Martin Luther King, or Abraham Licoln, or Plato. Yet somehow religious people are off-limit.

The Sweaty Housewife Routine…

Black woman
Black woman

It’s 10am. The bedroom lights are on. The cool air and the light hum from the air conditioner gives me hope. “The lights are still on? I guess today is my lucky day,” I say to myself.

At 10:05, the lights flicker, and the humming stops. I spoke too soon. Dumsor (blackout) was in full effect. I stretch, and lazily drag myself out of bed. Time for my quasi-housewife routine.

The lights go off every morning at 10 o’clock. That’s my cue to wake up, take a quick shower, get dressed and head out the house. I meet Thomas for lunch at 12pm. I always leave the house at 11:30am. I grab my big bottle of water from the fridge, and put on my oversized sunglasses. Like clockwork, I triple check to make sure all electrical gadgets are off. I lock the main door, and quadruple check to make sure all bolts and hinges are well fastened. I sometimes question if I have a mild form of OCD. I walk down 2 flights of stairs to the main gate.

I say good morning to the security lady at the gate, and she reluctantly responds with the weirdest smile I have ever seen. I wonder why she feels the need to smile when every muscle in her face refuses to comply. I smile back, and tell her to have a nice day. She doesn’t respond. I close the heavy, metal gate behind me.

The Special Chamber of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea has given its first ruling in the case involving these two nations; and round one goes to Cote d’Ivoire.

Our neighbours requested an injunction on all drilling activities within the disputed region whilst the case is heard, and the injunction was granted today despite Ghana’s arguments to the contrary.

The Tribunal ruled that for the duration of the case, drilling would be suspended by Ghana and her agents in the disputed regions. The tribunal made other rulings, which were outlined in the delivery earlier today.
