The Very Definition of Causing Financial Loss to the State: National Identification Authority Announces New National ID Registration Exercise

Ghana_Card_biometric

Prepare to be baffled by the genius of those in charge of running this country. After six years and over Ghc 21, 000,000 of working on issuing a national identification card, the whole endeavor has been scrapped to venture on another one.

The National Identification Authority has announced that the old registration exercise for issuing national ID’s has been scrapped, and that the authority is embarking on a fresh registration exercise aimed at issuing all Ghanaians with the national id cards dubbed Ghanacards.

The new exercise is to be held under a public/private partnership (PPP), towards which end a $115 million agreement has been reached with Exxim China to fund the new project, subject to approval from Cabinet and Parliament.

So after wasting the time of countless Ghanaians, most of whom had to queue for hours to get their data registered into the system, and spending approximately Ghc 21, 621, 075 on the six year registration and partial distribution of cards exercise; we are now being told we have to return our cards and then become embroiled in another lengthy exercise.

Anyone who has had to partake in any of these public registration exercises in Accra can tell you how unpleasant an experience it can be, indeed this gives me not very fond memories of my recent experience of trying to register to join the National Service Scheme. And it’s probably not any better in other parts of the country.

Asamoah Gyan’s Family Addresses Castro Disappearance FINALLY | Says ‘We Have No Legal or Moral Culpability Whatsoever’

Asamoah Gyan and Castro
Asamoah Gyan and Castro

The disappearance of Castro and Janet Bandu has taken Ghanaians on a roller coaster ride the past few months, with the most recent development being the alleged assault of a graphic journalist that was withdrawn from court.

The incident leading to that assault was a question asked by Daniel Kenu, who sought to find out Asamoah Gyan’s reaction to rumours he had a hand in Castro’s supposed demise. The question was adjudged moronic at the moment, but certainly the Gyan family now feels it is in the public domain enough that they have to address it.

Which begs the question why didn’t Asamoah Gyan just do that on that day? Or why was it necessary to later attack a media man when today’s press conference has shown his was a valid question? We all know the kind of mentality we have as Ghanaians, people would wonder about the hand of the supernatural in every incident!

Anyway the Gyan family has denied any culpability in Castro’s disappearance, giving an account of events that fateful day in July. The punchline of the press conference though, is that “we take the opportunity and state without the slightest doubt in our minds that we are not blameable for the disappearance of Castro and Janet Bandu. We had no hand in that occurrence. We have no moral or legal culpability whatsoever.”

The family also addressed what they deemed was bias on the part of the media, who has created the controversy because controversy sells. They expressed regret at the incident but re-affirmed Castro is a good friend to the family and they would never do anything to harm him.

Below is the quite lengthy rundown of events in Ada as narrated by the Gyan family…

It Rains, Accra Floods: Time for Another Round of Political Theatre

Ghana Flood
Ghana Flood

Ghana’s political arena is like one of those ‘choose your own adventure’ novels you read as a kid. You choose from multiple scenarios as the story progresses, and with every wrong choice you go back and choose another option; and you rinse and repeat until you finally get a denouement that’s not as terrible as the ones you’ve already gone through.

Except in Ghana, you never get that perfect ending no matter how many times you go through the same steps.

It’s been raining in Accra all day, which has led to the occasional flooding issue that plagues Accra rearing its ugly head again. It’s been in the news all day, people whose settlements have flooded and have lost property and several other valuables.

Luckily this time, it has not claimed a life yet; but what it has done is put the media focus back on the issue, which in turn puts more pressure on the politicians who then have to make a kind of grandstand to prove how on top of issues they are.

The problem is, and this is why I started with the analogy I used; this happens every single year. The floods come, it claims lives and properties, draws media attention, politicians make some kind of gesture to show how they’re taking the issue seriously; and then it all goes away when the rain stops. Then all you have to do is what for the next round of heavy rains to hit the city and start the cycle up all over again.

VIDEO: Some African Women Have EMPTY Heads Just Like This One…

African woman
African woman

I was sent the below video on Facebook and I couldn’t believe what the girl in the video who seems bleached was talking about—making it all seem that, a man must provide it ALL for a woman because he is with her.

According to her, if you want a woman to look good, you must be ready to spend your money. REALLY? Is this the new score out there?

She sits as if she is talking for most African woman, saying, if a man wants to walk to her, the man must be ready to spend some cash—making it seem, cash is all it takes to get an African woman into your bed. Pretty cheap and easy.

You know what, watch the video below and let’s know if you agree with her or not…

TOTAL SHAME: Kumasi Based Music Producer Who Demanded Seks Before Producing Female Gospel Musician Finally Exposed – He Has Also Promised to Expose the Gospel Musician-Anita Afriyie

Anita Afriyie
Anita Afriyie

Promising Ghanaian female gospel musician-Anita Afriyie, disclosed to Razz Newspaper last week that, some male gospel music producers sleep or demand seks with/from female gospel musicians before producing them.

In her words, Anita alleged: “It’s something that has been going on for years but people get scared voicing it out fearing they will get enemies from society and the industry, but since it’s a question you are asking me, I have no other option than to tell you the truth.”

She confirmed she knows some musicians who have given in for some producers to sleep with them and have gotten what they want. “I can mention their names but it’s not too necessary. One of the main reasons why I’m telling you the truth is that, it is not a good thing – they must put a stop to,” she intimated.

However, when she was interviewed on Channel R’s ‘205 Total Entertainment’ last Friday (19th Sept, 2014), astute host of the programme, Christian Agyei Frimpong, proved to all and sundry why he is amongst the best radio interviewers in the capital.

After many attempts by Christian for Anita to mention the name of the producer who once demanded seks from her, Christian asked her, which of your albums did you face this sexual-advance challenge from?

Anita who had earlier stated that the man who produced her third album was Kumasi based producer by name Asteve, answered; “It was my third album. The album could not come out because the producer demanded for seks which I declined because it’s against my Christian teachings.”

Speaking on Neat FM’s ‘Entertainment Ghana’ today, 23rd Sep, 2014, Anita who had revealed that it’s Asteve who demanded seks from her, took a U-turn to say she never said so. When Christian Agyei Frimpong was called, he confirmed Anita alleged so on his platform. When Kwasi Aboagye ‘drilled’ her properly, Anita finally admitted to the shock of all listeners that “it’s Asteve.”

For Asteve’s (real name Steven Asiedu) side of the story, GhanaCelebrities.Com contacted him and to our utter dismay, he said all that Anita revealed to the public is false! According to Asteve, “I usually don’t go looking for artists to produce – they usually come to me. I met Anita through recommendation from George Forest, Demako, and one producer by name Agya Koo.

“Between the times I started recording Anita and promotion, Anita, who claims she is an angelic being, had started flirting with my younger blood brother – an act I frowned upon and asked them to put an end to!

“I only introduced my younger brother to her as someone who will mange her. As soon as she saw my brother, she accepted to let him manage her. There were times Anita who is suppose to be a gospel musician would tell me and his family that she’s going to pray and fast on the mountains.

“I will go to my brother’s room and go and meet Anita, wearing nightie on the bed! I met her in such act many times! She flirt with my blood brother so I thought her actions were not auspicious for me to invest in her as a gospel artist. I stopped investing in her album!

CHRIS-VINCENT: The ‘Side Chick’ Death Trap | Is It Worth the Fun?

Side Chick
Side Chick

Most men are greedy and jealous but they will go every length to show that, they are not jealous when it comes to women. Interestingly, most women accept on first prompt that they are jealous and greedy—and as such, they are not ready to share their men with anyone.

I am talking about a class of human beings who even gets upset if they see another of their kind, wearing something they are already wearing—despite the fact that the person also bought it with her own money. From this common illustration, you should know how intolerable women are when it comes to sharing, writes CHRIS-VINCENT on BrutallyUncensored.Com.

Fortunately for men and unfortunately for some women, there are those single women who present themselves as less jealous or greedy—and are ready to become the side chicks, perhaps, the right name should be the side biatches.

For men who are lucky to meet such single women, it mostly feels like you’ve won the lottery and just as the whole enterprise/offer seems too good to be true—mostly, they are indeed too good to be true.

Most of the side chicks have hidden agenda, well concealed between the space they seem to fill in your relationships—and for some reason, they can be exceptionally fun, stealing your attention from the main chick-be it the wife or girlfriend.

Yesterday, I was sent a video of a Nigerian woman which you can see below (I believe this was recorded for fun) who called her boyfriend only to have the main girlfriend of the man picking the phone at the other end.

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJQ5jK6rhZA

The conversation was pretty interesting as she didn’t seem bothered about her position as the side biatch, adding that, if the main biatch is not happy about the current state of things and she wants to leave, she can. But she should notify her when she is leaving so she will know that her position has changed from being the side biatch to main biatch.

In fact, there are women like this out there—I mean plenty of them who come up as not caring about whoever is in the room, provided they get a little space at the corner—and provided their immediate needs are taken care of.

For most men, what else could be exciting than this? Having a second single woman who you can call your woman—and more importantly, who knows about the other woman but has no problem or will not act in anyway to alert the other, so they mostly say.

The Unfulfilled Legacy of Ghana’s First President

sellers in Ghana

The founder’s day holiday is a relatively new one, officialised by the late President John Atta Mills as a public holiday. But the celebration of the day of Osagyefo’s birth had been going on long before we added the public holiday tag to 21 September of every year.

It’s almost a cliché now to use the phrase ‘if Kwame Nkrumah could see what was going on in Ghana now, he would be churning in his grave’. But being cliché does not make anything less true, and the same can certainly be applied to the above phrase.

There are several reasons people often go gaga over Kwame Nkrumah as a leader of Ghana; he won the country independence, initiated and completed several socio-economic and infrastructural policies that hugely benefit Ghana to this day, and he was a huge believer in the capabilities of the African in managing our own affairs.

Those are all well documented and would be futile rehashing here; after all he also had his faults. He initiated policies and laws inimical to the democratic ideals upon which he swung to power, the Preventive Detention Act, establishing the one party state that led to his edging closer to that tyrannical status.

So Nkrumah’s supporters and detractors hold this argument every Independence Day and Founder’s day, and in fact it is already been raging through the country this past couple of days; but that is far from my purpose here.

Because friend or foe: what cannot be denied about Kwame Nkrumah was his unrivalled excellence at being a leader, a political actor, and a power for economic development. More than anything that is what Ghana needs at this moment in our history, not a leader to win us independence, but a leader who can galvanise the people of this nation into one, a leader who revels in taking the hard decisions that real governance is rife with.

That is the real tragedy of founder’s day, that we now live in a country once ruled by a man of Osagyefo’s ilk, that is now a bedrock for corruption, incompetence, and a weird mixture of the two and several other ills that now have made this country unbearable to live in.

Dr. Victoria Hammah is on The Market Gentlemen: Says She’s ‘Single and Aggressively Searching’

Victoria Hammah
Victoria Hammah

Victoria Hammah has been in the news again lately, after having gone a little quiet since the political scandal that led to her firing as Deputy Minister.

The recent case involved an alleged lover’s spat with her boyfriend, apparently over Vicky’s aggressive sexual demands which the boyfriend was incapable or unwilling to provide.

Well Vicky spoke to Bola Ray on the Starr Drive Monday, during which conversation she addressed several of the issues recent public attention has thrown out. But most crucially, Vicky revealed she was on the market now, and that she was searching for a new boyfriend.

“I am single and aggressively searching for a man” she told Bola Ray live on air. “I’m not getting any younger”

The arrest of her boyfriend led to several theories as to what might have happened, but Vicky seemed determined to put the incident behind her, reiterating that she was single now and whatever that happened had been blown widely out of proportion.

She also addressed the public perception of her that seemed to be that she only had good looks and a well proportioned body, but not much brains. She debunked all those, saying she was tired of hearing that and that people should give her a break; after all she got her PhD at age 27.

9 Year Old Boy Used As Meat for Pepper Soup by Grandmother in Nigeria

What the hell
What the hell

A few years ago I used to hear stories of cannibalism still being present in Africa. I never believed them But as I grow, I have come to realise there is still so much dark activity out there.

Back in the old days in Africa, grandma’s end was the best place for a child to run to even when he/she wronged his parents. You always knew grandma would welcome you with love and affection. Parents will actually leave you with grandma if they want you well taken care of.

But somewhere in Africa, many grandmothers are being accused of witchcraft wrongly simply because a few of them are notoriously obnoxious, mischievous and scheming. The west may have its primitive ways but cannibalism is the last thing you expect to hear in 2014. Who would even expect that there are still human beings who will slaughter another like a fowl?

Okay let me retract that. There are human groups that slaughter each other to this day. We know of terrorist groups like ISIS and Boko Haram. But to eat the meat of the human being you were evil enough to kill is a whole different level that we do not hear about. And when those people end up being people you know, your own relatives, your blood, family! It forces us to rethink how safe we are in the midst of family. Africa is indeed riddled with many perplexing issues. Ebola, Cholera, HIV, Terrorism and more. It really is just too much for us to be afraid of being eaten by each other too!

How do you kill a whole human being just to make soup to eat? Have you finished eating everything the world has to offer or will eating another human being ensure that you live forever? What could it be!?

The Customer is Always Right But Not in Ghana…

Selling and Buying in Ghana

It is the oldest axiom in business, the truest; yet in Ghana it is treated as just a saying, and not the foundation on which all successful businesses should be built.

I am referring to the saying ‘the customer is always right’. The saying is not meant to be taken literally, that’s impossible; but it’s supposed to be a guideline for business people, an admonition that the customer is a very important person to the business, and consequently should be treated as such.

And in any serious business it is taken very seriously. Often customer service personnel undergo rigorous training, whilst the staff are often encouraged to maintain a sunny disposition towards the customers. In our dear country Ghana though, the opposite is quite often the case.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t occur only on the micro level, individual shop owners and the like, though that takes up the majority. It sometimes occurs even at the very top of the corporate level, in institutions such as banks and the like.

This I believe occurs because the opposite of the saying is what we believe here in Ghana. Often the office personnel believe they are doing you a favour, and thus you must move at their convenience.

I have had several incidents personally where I have been dissatisfied with customer service, and heard several stories from friends. These often involve innocuous enquiries, which sometimes transform into yelling on them from the people supposed to be providing ‘customer service’.

I once went with a friend to the bank to pay her fees, and she made a mistake on the payment slip. Due to past experience, she was scared to go for a new one, so I had to pretend I was paying my fees too just to get her a fresh slip, even though I had paid a couple of weeks prior.

Kwame Nkrumah Did Ghanaians a BIG Disservice By Fighting for INDEPENDENCE…

Kwame Nkrumah
Kwame Nkrumah

“At long last, the battle has ended!  And thus, Ghana, your beloved country is free forever! And, as I pointed out, from now on, today, we must change our attitudes and our minds.  We must realise that from now on we are no longer a colonial but free and independent people.  That new Africa is ready to fight his own battles and show that after all the black man is capable of managing his own affairs. We are going to demonstrate to the world, to the other nations, that we are prepared to lay our foundation.”

The above quote is a very popular one taken from the Independence speech delivered by Ghana’s first president – Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. I can envisage how happy Ghanaians were at that particular time, simply because they were unshackled from foreign rule.

I am of the belief that, today, majority, if not all Ghanaians, are very miserable by the way thing are going in the country; perhaps as the outcome of self-rule.

Ghana is indeed constrained forever, as opposed to Kwame Nkrumah’s view of Ghana being free forever. The excitement at that moment might have clouded the vision of the leaders to foresee what the future entailed.

Since 1957, it has become very apparent that we are still dependent on foreign countries for virtually everything. Although, Ghana is an independent country, it is still being ruled indirectly under the auspices of neo-colonialism.

After a solid fifty seven (57) years of liberation, we have proven that we are not capable of managing our own affairs at all, in contrast to what Kwame Nkrumah made known. In fact, we are experiencing the exact opposite of the quote above. If by miracle Kwame Nkrumah is resurrected today, I am sure he will ask whoever raised him from the dead to send him back to his grave.

I feel ashamed to write (not even knowing where to start from) about the current state of affairs in our country. If indeed we are capable of managing our own affairs, we wouldn’t still be finding it difficult to generate enough electricity power for supply.

The rate at which load shedding is taking place in this era definitely defines our incapability to manage our resources. There is no single day that lights do not go off (without schedule) in this country. I guess the constant light outs might be as a result of VRA, GRIDCo, and ECG using their outfits to practically teach national service personnel how to ON and OFF lights to equip them for the future.

Ever since the Akosombo Hydroelectric Dam was conceived by Ernest Kitson, and finally constructed in 1963, it has remained our main hope and source of electricity supply. No other means of generating electricity has really been explored by our so-called leaders. For how long are we going to live in darkness, embarking on needless load shedding in order to conserve power?

As it stands now, the Ghanaian economy is on the verge of collapsing. I’m confident that it will eventually flop if nothing is done about it. From the look of things, there seem to be no remedy for the dying economy at the moment. All we can do is to observe it die since a vast number of our leaders have problems with their thinking faculties.

‘Dum-Sor’ Has Become ‘Dum Dum’ in Ghana: Why Another Energy Crisis After the Last One?

Dum-Sor Dum-Sor
Dum-Sor Dum-Sor

Politicians have the best selective memory of any sub-species of humans you can find on this planet. Their perspective on issues, especially in Ghana, is often shaped by their position in the political landscape: in power or in opposition.

So what is wrong to the NDC in opposition becomes right when in power, and vice versa. It’s infuriating, but it’s a situation we have learnt to live with.

A recently commenced load shedding exercise has let me cast my mind back to the last major one, which occurred when the NPP under President John Agyekum Kuffour were in power. That one occurred because of low water levels in the Akosombo Dam, the main hydro-electric power source in Ghana.

The then opposition NDC cried bloody hell, and often wondered aloud how the government could let things come to such a deplorable situation. When they ascended to power a few years later, one could at least assume that all their complaints over such a situation could lead to a better handling of the energy sector.

Instead we have had two or three load shedding exercises since the change of government in 2008. In fact in Ghana we’ve always had the light-outs people have affectionately dubbed ‘dum-sor’, but the official load shedding exercises have become much more rampant in recent times.

This recent one, caused by a shutdown of gas from Nigeria through the West African gas pipeline, is the worst in living memory. My power was out for 12 hours Thursday night to Friday morning, yet here I am Saturday morning and I have been taken off for another 12 hours.

ECG themselves are clueless, I recall hearing their spokesperson on television saying the power supply has become too erratic for them to provide a timetable. I thought they were in charge of the power supply, so who makes it erratic if not them?

Who Do You Worship? God or Your Pastor?

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome
Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

I have been keenly watching Pastor Chris and Pastor Anita’s divorce backlash and how many people especially his followers have chosen to vilify his wife in the middle of all this.

I am particularly sending out a personal shout out to her for choosing to be a virteous woman and keep mute while everyone else including her husband respond. Deep down both she and her husband know they cannot fight each other in public. No couple married for so long should ever attempt battling their differences by trading words in public. Nobody will win and such things will only earn embarrassment for both.

But let me ask the followers of pastor Chris who fight people and insult others on his behalf, is he your saviour or is Christ your saviour? Perhaps the names are so close in spelling that you have been tempted to mix it up, The pedestals to which you lift your pastors and the immortal and untouchable attributes you give them, scare me into believing you are more followers of pastors than the saviour of Christianity who is Christ.

People have been so blinded that nobody is allowed to criticize a pastor. This is the genesis of rot in the church. And I thought at this point, many Christians would have come to a point where they realize that pastors are merely human.

I want to also question the motives of TB Joshua and Reverend Owusu Bempa.

The deadly incidents surrounding the Synagogue Church of All Nations these days are very questionable. I am a Christian and the God I know is not a God of controversy or confusion.

Ministry of Finance Did Not Budget For Creative Arts Industry in Its 2014 Budget? – Ministry Of Tourism’s Budget Allocation in Limbo!

Creative Arts Industry
Creative Arts Industry

Information reaching GhanaCelebrities.Com suggests that the government of Ghana did not budget for the creative art industry in its 2014 fiscal budget.

Government for the first time made an allocation of GH¢2 million in the 2012 budget for the creative industry under the tenure of Ghana’s late President, Prof. Evans Fiifi Atta Mills. Disagreement erupted after it emerged that only members of the musicians union accessed the funds.

Following the disagreements over the money, President John Dramani Mahama, speaking at a meeting with selected members of the creative industry at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Kumasi ahead of the 2012 general elections, promised to increase government’s budgetary allocation to the sector in order that many will benefit.

He said, “I am just assuring that we are going to make another budgetary allocation more than the amount [that was given] and you have to collectively come out with a blue print for investing it in the best way that will serve our purpose.”

True to Government’s promise, the Finance Minister, Seth Terkper, presenting the 2013 budget to parliament, announced that the government has allocated an amount of GH¢3 million to better the lot of the industry: “the creative arts industry will be supported with GH¢3 million in 2013,” he said.

It was reported that government budget for the creative art industry in its 2014 fiscal budget, however, 8 months gone by, GhanaCelebrities.Com gathers that government did not budget for the creative arts industry for the year 2014 – as we were made to believe.

According to our source “what the minister read in parliament is usually called policy direction to the budget. Whenever budget is read in Parliament, it does not mean that all the items mentioned have been costed. They are just policy direction to the budget.

“In the master budget of the finance ministry, there is no figure allocated specifically for the creative arts industry so if you guys in the creative arts industry or showbiz are waiting for any money like the 2 million you once received, you wait in vein! There is no money for you!”

A member of Castro’s family by name, Nii Abbey, has finally come out to reveal the hell they went through in the hands of a spiritualist in their attempt to unravel the mystery behind Castro’s tragic fate.

Speaking on Channel R’s ‘205 Total Entertainment,’ Nii Abbey said “a certain prophet referred us to this spiritualist in Russia – a suburb in Accra. He is a fetish priest! So I, Castro’s Aunty in the company of other family members, visited this fetish! His shine is so scary! We were all scared when we went there! We visited him just 3 days (Wednesday 9th July, 2014) after Castro’s story broke out.

“When we went there, this fetish priest claimed he knows Castro. He also claimed that Castro and 2 footballers come to him and that, one of the footballers, is his in-law. He however admitted that Castro did not come there for any spiritual help because Castro did not believe in the spiritualist and his works.”

Host of ‘205 Total Entertainment,’ Christian Agyei Frimpong, asked Nii why of all the credible men of God, they consulted a fetish priest. Nii continued by responding that Castro’s family are Christians and that one of Castro’s uncles is even a pastor but “in the heat of the issues, all we wanted was solution to the mystery so the intention was not to go worship idols! I did not support the idea of going to see the priest but the situation demanded it” Nii said.

After a lot of grandstanding from the powers that be at Graphic on the case against Baffour Gyan, Daniel Kenu has withdrawn the case against Baffour Gyan, citing health reasons.

The Ashanti regional Daily Graphic editor was assaulted by Baffour Gyan, Samuel Anim Addo- brother and publicist to Black Stars skipper Asamoah Gyan respectively: and some hired thugs after he asked Asamoah Gyan a question they deemed insensitive.

The case was sent to court, but the defendants have from day one maintained their determination to seek an out of court settlement; and it seems they have achieved their objective with this latest piece of information coming through.

It is a surprising move, especially considering the managing editor of the Graphic Communications Group, Ken Ashigbey, had vowed that justice would be served to Baffour Gyan, to ensure that no journalist would be disrespected in that manner again.
