Ugandan Pop Singer-Jemimah Kansiime Facing Jail Due to Explicit Music Video

This is the country where women in miniskirts are sometimes abused by men without any repercussions, so seems to me they have a problem with women who fail to conform to their expectations.

21 year old Ugandan pop singer Jemimah Kansiime, who performs under the stage name ‘Panadol wa Basajja’ (Medicine for Men), is facing up to ten years in jail due to the content of a music video she made which is being described as pornography.

Uganda ratified an anti-pornography law last year which human rights groups railed against, because of its loosely defined definition for pornography and which is now being used to hunt this singer down.

Jemimah has been arrested and already spent five weeks in jail before she could post bail. The video, ‘Ensolio Yange’, has been described by law makers in Uganda as obscene and vulgar and has led to her being charged under the new law.

British High Commissioner to Ghana Calls On Us to Accept Homosexuals As Part Of Society

All he is going to achieve is get people talking about imperialism and white people trying to impose their culture on us, but that doesn’t take away from the validity of his points.

The British High Commissioner to Ghana Jon Benjamin was on the Starr chat on Starr FM, and he made statements in relation to our treatment of homosexuals. According to him homosexuality, like heterosexuality, is natural and innate therefore nobody should be treated badly for who they are.

“I know it is not a popular view in Ghana…but I think it is about consensual relationships between adults. I think that sexual orientation is something that is natural and inborn in people, I don’t think that it is a choice they make and therefore I don’t see any basis for treating people differently or removing any right they have as full citizens.

It happened to the sacked Deputy Minister-Victoria Hammah when during a speech, she stopped to say that what she was reading was not the speech she edited. Obviously, someone had tampered with her speech or she could not simply find her speech.

For a few days now, President Mahama’s disaster at the opening of the 47th Ordinary Session of ECOWAS has become the talk of the town and surprisingly, media outlets like the one below and certain people are failing to see the incompetence behind this, rather applauding the President for the obvious disgrace.

So if a President cannot find the last two pages of his speech and he decides to continue by having a general conversation about the topic; is that something to be celebrated? Shouldn’t we be worried about where the last two pages disappeared to—and who was responsible for the mess?

Those with freedom take it for granted and abuse it—and to be frank, certain Ghanaians are over stepping the mark with the way they attack the highest office of the land-The Presidency.

Of course Dumsor is unbearable but the manner in which some Ghanaians have decided to express their satisfaction with the government’s handling of the power crisis is shameful—perhaps, unacceptable should be the word.

The video below which is circulating around shows two Ghanaian ladies in the age range of 24-28, throwing all manner of brutal insults at the President.

As revealed earlier, The Upper East Regional chairman of the NPP, Adams Mahama, was reportedly in hospital this morning after being attacked with acid by other members of his party.

Two assailants stopped his car whilst he was about entering his house midnight on Wednesday and poured the corrosive substance on his face and entire body.

Opinions, they say, are like noses and as such, each and every one has one – including comedian Boxer Bukom Banku.

For the past 3 years, several Ghanaians have complained bitterly about the state of affairs of the country’s energy crisis. The unremitting power failure has caused many to call on the president to find a last solution to the problem.

On May 16, 2015, some Ghanaian celebrities led by actress Yvonne Nelson organized a #DumsorMustStop vigil which also functioned as a peaceful protest to demonstrate against an adamant dead-goat president.
