The biggest reality show in Africa is back and AfricaMagic can reveal that season 8 of Big Brother Africa has been dramatically titled The Chase. 28 housemates from 14 countries will not only be chasing after the 300 000 USD cash prize but the chance of becoming a household name and perhaps even finding romance.
Launching on Sunday 26 May, Big Brother The Chase will combine electrifying twists and big surprises that will require housemates to use their charm to get ahead, possibly leaving room for cupid’s arrow to connect two hearts or more.
Setting the tone, in line with theme, the new seasons logo showcases a glittering and slightly flirtatious feel with chic, edgy gold plated lines. The iconic Big Brother eye has an enchanting gold dust finish with a dazzling diamond centre, featuring a teasing hint of ruby red.
More good news is that the witty and entertaining IK Osakioduwa returns once again in 2013 to host The Chase. He has won many fans across the continent for his ability to speak openly with housemates and allow them to be at ease at their most vulnerable moments. (more…)
The continent’s latest superstar has been born! Africa chose South Africa’s Keagan as the winner of AfricaMagic’s Big Brother StarGame last night (5 August on DStv Channel 197 & 198 at 20:00 CAT) – and rocketed him to superstardom and the massive USD 300 000 prize after 91 days of 24/7 drama and thrills.
Keagan, Kyle, Lady May, Prezzo, Talia and Wati were all in the running during the final week – but the man from Cape Town won Africa’s hearts and votes. Wati was the first housemate to be evicted on the night, followed by Kyle, Talia, Lady May and, finally, Prezzo. Keagan and Prezzo entered the game on two different sides – Downville and Upville, respectively – on 6 May and kept Africa entertained for 91 days.
The Big Brother StarGame Finale was a celeb-studded affair, kicking off with a special edition of STARGIST on DStv Channel 197, hosted by Vimbai Mutinhiri and Lawrence Maleka, who interviewed former Big Brother StarGame housemates, fans and business executives such as M-Net Africa Managing Director Biola Alabi and Olufemi Ashipa, Brand Manager Colas: Coca Cola Nigeria.
Stars of Big Brother seasons past were keen onlookers in the live studio audience, alongside VIP’s like Zinzi Mandela. African music superstars also took to the Big Brother stage to take the Finale to the next level. Nigerian hip-hop star D’Banj, Ugandan hip-hop powerhouse Navio, sizzling South African MC Khuli Chana, award-winning Ghanaian hip-life king Sarkodie and Nigeria’s phenomenal Afro-pop star Naeto C all rocked the stage, giving viewers a night they’ll never forget!
Big Brother StarGame dominated TV screens – but also rocked the online space! The show generated over 2 million messages to TV, over 2 million unique online browsers, 128 000 000 page views, over 250 000 Twitter followers and nearly 900 000 Facebook likes!
Former Ghanaian rep of the Big Brother Stargame, DKB would be returning to South Africa to witness the grand finale of the reality TV show which ends on Sunday, August 5 with the awarding of the coveted $300,000 to the best housemate.
He would be reuniting with former housemates and also reconciling with the former Sierra Leonean rep Zainab, with whom he had a violence scandal that ended in their disqualification on June 4th, 29 days into the show.
He intends to use this platform to promote his upcoming mega show dubbed “DKB n FRENDZ” which is a comedy and music show and also his “Anti-gender violence campaign” he has embarked on preaching against violence and provocations in schools. He promises to have fun with all his fans across Africa online with “juice” a name he fondly used for gossiping during his stay in the house, on his official:
Twitter handle: @dkbghana
Facebook: DKB GH
Five of Africa’s hottest musicians are set to take to the stage for the star-studded finale of AfricaMagic’s ultra-popular BIG BROTHER STARGAME in which one housemate will walk away USD 300 000 richer!
Superstar Nigerian performer D’ Banj, fresh off the success of his sensational global hit Oliver Twist, has jetted into Johannesburg ahead of the show’s glittering finale on Sunday August 5. He will be joined by East African hip hop powerhouse Navio (Uganda), sizzling South African MC Khuli Chana and award-winning Ghanaian hip-life king Sarkodie while Nigeria’s phenomenal Afro-pop star Naeto C rounds off the line-up!
Adding to the excitement of the big night, AfricaMagic has confirmed that it will be screening a special edition of its celeb news show STARGIST, which will be screened LIVE on DStv channel 197 at 19:30 CAT, 30 minutes before the Finale kicks off at 20:00 CAT LIVE on DStv channel 198 and AfricaMagic Entertainment (DStv channel 128). Ghana may not have a Big Brother Stargame representative in the house, but this weekend the country will be represented in the show that is known to be one of the most watched reality program across the continent.
On the 4th of August 2012, the Big Brother house will come alive with incredible tunes when Ghana’s DJ Champagne storms the house to work the turntables at the housemates Saturday night party. DJ Champagne will also be playing on stage at the Big Brother Finale show the next day, 5th August 2012, and also at the after party on the same evening.
Since 2009, DJ Champagne has been the disc jockey for the YFM drive time show; “Dryve Of Ur Life”. Apart from the weekday show, the multitalented DJ also plays on YFM’s hugely popular Saturday afternoon student related program known as “Y – Xpress”. Nicknamed the music connoisseur, DJ Champagne has played at several big concerts and high profile parties in Ghana.
With a few days to the finale of the Big Brother StarGame, it remains unclear who is likely to win the ultimate prize of a USD 300,000. There are six housemates remaining in the house and these have only 6 days to prove to Africa that they deserve her precious votes. However, the house has seen the strength of Kyle, Lady May, Wati and Prezzo because they have been nominated and survived the chopping block before in Upville. But the greatest challenge could perhaps be for the rest of the gang who have never been exposed to an eviction. The two times that Keagan was nominated managed to save his head courtesy of the Head of House position while Talia has had a lucky streak in Upville, the Zambian lass has never made it to the nomination list and has also never been replaced by a Head of House.
Well, the ball is in Africa’s hands at the moment and housemates have to play their part in order to impress Africa.
Tune in to DStv Channel 197 & 198 24/7 to catch DJ Champagne and the Big Brother StarGame finale action, powered by Coca Cola. And keep voting.
Last Friday, MultiChoice Ghana organized a press conference for Ghana’s recent evictee from the on-going Big Brother Stargame-Keitta and to the surprise of many, Eazzy failed to show up.
If you can remember, few week’s ago, we mentioned that Eazzy’s love relationship will Keitta will be kicking the rocks and the signs have already kicked in…(Click Here To Read That).
Why was Eazzy not at Keitta’s Press Conference to give her Big Brother Stargame partner and boyfriend all the support he needed? Even DKB who was facing the wrath of Africa had his girlfriend by his side at his Press Conference.
GhanaCelebrities.Com has been told that, since Reggie Rockstone has been the right hand man of Keitta since his return from the Big Brother house, and the fact that Eazzy and Reggie are sitting on a time bomb meant that there was no way Eazzy could have be there.
A source close to Eazzy has also mentioned to GhanaCelebrities.Com that, Eazzy is definitely re-evaluating her love relationship with Keitta. “A lot of things have gone wrong within the Eazzy and Keitta camp, Keitta has been fed with lot of lies about Eazzy being unfaithful and Eazzy has also seen some parts of Keitta she does not appreciate. The whole not bathing and stinking body issue will kill any girl. Eazzy is thinking a lot’ she said.
Keitta tried to justify why Eazzy was there by saying “she was was engaged with other things which will benefit both of them and they both agreed on the fact that she was not going to be present”.
As we always say, time will tell…The signs are already in the sky!
Uganda’s Jannette stumbled one step short of the Big Brother StarGame final as she became the 8th housemate to be evicted from the Upville house last night (29 July on DStv Channel 197 & 198 at 20:00 CAT). After managing to dodge nomination for 11 weeks, her luck ran out last Monday as she fell foul of Wati and Lady May – and then received fewer country votes than Kyle, Lady May and Prezzo over the course of this week to see her time in the house come to an end.
Jannette’s departure means that there are six housemates left in the running for the USD 300 000 prize, which will be awarded next Sunday during a spectacular live finale. Lady May, Prezzo, Wati, Talia, Keagan and Kyle need Africa’s votes to determine which of them wins Big Brother StarGame!
Sunday night’s show was as packed with music as it was with drama, as DJ Pita from Uganda’s Sanyu FM spun the decks, Angola’s Young Nucho performed I’m Not Wayneand South African hip-hop stars Jozi rocked the house with Baby Don’t Cry.
It had been a massive week in the Big Brother house as the housemates worked hard to win their ONE Campaign task, and had celebrity shout outs and visitors in the shape of Mary J. Blige, Bono, Nas, Melanie Fiona, Zolani Mahola and Nigeria’s own 2Face Idibia. Kyle had some regrets about putting Keitta up for eviction last week, while Jannette struggled to come to terms with her first nomination.
Last week’s evictees Alex and Keitta have had a busy time since leaving the Big Brother StarGame house and viewers got to hear all about it. Alex said he’d like to be remembered as the guy who was always “chilled out” while Keitta wanted people to think of him as the guy who was the “fun of the house”. Alex learned to respect different people’s opinions and said he had felt particularly close to Yadel. Keitta said his instincts had told him that Kyle had put him up for eviction as part of his ‘save and replace’ decision, which made his eviction “easier”, because in his words: “it’s just a game”. The remaining seven Big Brother StarGame Housemates received a pleasant surprise on Day 79 when Nigerian superstar 2Face paid them a visit in the afternoon and took them through the importance of the Thrive Garden.
He emphasised the level of starvation in Africa and encouraged the Housemates to add their voice in the fight against poverty. “You are now celebrities so your voice is important,” he said.
As if that was not enough, 2Face then ushered the Housemates to the lounge where they received a message from the ONE Campaign founder Bono of U2 fame.
The 91 day reality super-series Big Brother StarGame, produced for M-Net’s AfricaMagic, is being screened live 24/7 on DStv channel 197 & 198. For more information log on to www.africamagic.tv/bigbrother.
There are just 13 days of Big Brother StarGame left, and the housemates seem to have united on a common theme – Wati & Prezzo must go! The duo picked up four nominations each, while Jannette and Lady May picked up two apiece.
Once Big Brother had announced the results of a pensive day of nominations on Monday night (20:00 CAT on Africa Magic, DStv Channel 114), Head of House Wati chose to save himself and put Kyle up in his place.
Lady May nominated Wati and Jannette because she felt they were the ring leaders of a discussion last week during which they convinced the other housemates to form a “Hate Lady May” campaign to oust her from the game.
Prezzo nominated Kyle for being “a disciple – he is a follower and tends to get on everybody’s nerves”. His other nomination went to Namibia’s Lady May because he felt she thought she was “God’s gift to the Big Brother house”. Janette nominated Prezzo because she felt he has had enough exposure to last him a lifetime. She also picked Wati because she felt he “has a lot of love” from Big Brother StarGame viewers.
Wati picked Jannette and Talia as his nominees, the former because she had a country ally in Kyle, which Wati felt could compromise his game. His nod to Talia was because he feels she is his biggest competition in the game. Keagan, who escaped without a single nomination himself, nominated Lady May because he finds her “somewhat annoying” and Prezzo because he is “sly”. Kyle nominated Prezzo because he is “hot and cold”, along with Head of House Wati. Talia also nominated Wati and Prezzo,

Ghana’s former Big Brother Representative has been hit emotionally hard by the passing of the President of Ghana the late Prof. John Evans Atta Mills.
According to his management Ecstasy and Boom Entertainment, he was preparing for 2 private shows slated this weekend, where he would be performing comedy on topics related to current affairs which obviously involves spoofing the system but has been cancelled due to the shock he received when the news of the president’s demise came out officially.
According to DKB “I was deeply hurt and devastated by the news and it felt like I had lost a father even though we biologically and physically we don’t have anything in common except attending the same school i.e University of Ghana.
Uncle Atta is a person who you would admire and have affinity for due to his extreme patience, tolerance and good sense of humor unconsciously because he is a character that bears no grudge with anyone, another factor that that worsened my plight was the death rumor of my mentor Eddie Murphy which later fortunately came out as a hoax.
You would think you know how to handle anger and provocations until you meet Uncle Atta and realize that he doesn’t know those elements exist. The news broke me down emotionally such that I lost appetite to perform on those shows thereby sacrificing them and anything that comes with it as my form of last respect for our lost father”
His last words were, “the whole country will miss him but especially the comedy community because he undeniably provides unlimited materials with his antics for us thereby giving us something to joke about, I will entreat every Ghanaian as a form of respect to him exercise a bit of his attitude in their daily life that’s patience, tolerance and love for the needy. Lastly let’s all rally behind our new president H.E John Mahama to govern the nation well and as he takes us to the polls soon, I hope and pray we have an “Atta Mills-ful elections” to honour his death.
From his management, all fans of DKB should gear up because he is planning to hit Ghana with the BIGGEST comedy show in the history of Ghana with fellow comedians from other African countries flying down to perform with support from hit making musicians from Africa dubbed “DKB n FRENDZ” coming soon !!!!!!.
