PHOTOS FROM the London Premiere of Lydia Forson’s ‘A Letter From Adam’ + My Take On the Movie…

Lydia Forson
Lydia Forson

Actress/producer-Lydia Forson premiered her movie-A Letter From Adam on Friday at the Greenwich Odeon Cinema in London—and the crowd was pretty impressive. Of course, it could have been far better but considering the fact that this is her first, I wouldn’t want to use attendance to measure the success.

Despite trying so hard to beat the conventional late start by turning up for the premiere at 10pm instead of the 9:30 advertised start time, I still had to wait around till almost 11:15pm before the showing started.

Clearly, the cinema hall was booked for 11pm and as usual, I heard several people complaining about the long wait—I presume these were people who got to the venue at the advertised time.

The Story Line

A Letter From Adam’ may not necessary have over the top stars but the storyline which comes in layers of romance and comedy is definitely worth whatever time one may spend to watch it.

It tells a story of a young woman who falls deeply in love with a far older man—and this time, not for material gains but for ‘genuine affection’. Having had rough-good times in the past with series of strangers, this young woman battles to keep her head up for her new found love as the distractions and ‘habit’ from her past continue to creep in…

Of course everyone has something hunting him or her in life, including the old man (Adam)—but Adam is pretty steadfast despite the needless hunt. With the hovering past distractions in her life, the young woman easily falls for Adam’s hunter’s cunning presentation—perhaps, it’s better calling it a ‘misrepresentation’.

The filmmaker says ‘A Letter from Adam‘ is “a contemporary story about love, loss and hope which draws audiences into a realistic cycle of life seen through the pain of loss, the journey of self discovery and the courage and strength to find hope in the face of adversity.”

To me, it’s a good attempt at looking at one of the many shades love comes in—highlighting the fact that the love story doesn’t always end with smiles, something the film-makers themselves struggled to  accept and therefore had to push the ending for that conventional ‘a happy ending’.

A Romantic Comedy…

A Letter from Adam’ is a romantic comedy but I feel the romance and comedy were unconnected though they stayed within the same film. The comedy was majorly between Lydia Forson and Naa Ashorkor’s character—and occasionally, between Lydia Forson and her many in-bed associates.

There was little or no comedy between Lydia Forson’s character and Adam—where the romance primarily existed. A little bit of comedy could have been pushed into Naa Ashorkor’s character and her husband’s marriage which would have well complemented their not so obvious romance.

The comedy got people laughing and the occasional local language ‘interjection’ even made it more fun…It was a big plus!

Acting…

The strength of the movie lies in the acting; Lydia Forson was amazing and Wale Ojo was splendid. When it comes to delivery, you can’t fault Lydia Forson who placed so well with Nigeria’s Wale Ojo.

Wale Ojo comes up as an aging Denzel Washington, calm and excellent—with that perfect posture and smile for on-screen delivery.

Is Menaye Donkor Pregnant? | Fan Tells GC She is Hiding Her Pregnancy

Menaye Donkor
Menaye Donkor

A Menaye Donkor fan has just written in to tell GhanaCelebrities.Com that, the wife of Ghanaian footballer-Sulley Muntari is pregnant—and she is pulling “Nadia Buari” on us all…

Of course everything is possible and the fact that Menaye Donkor’s mother-in-law nearly ended the marriage to her son over Menaye’s inability to give her a grandchild means this a good news to the Menaye and Sulley family—that is if the fan is not just turning wishes into reality.

According to the fan who wants to be known as Adwoa, her sister is a friend of Menaye Donkor and yesterday when they were discussing Nadia Buari’s twins, the sister mentioned that Menaye Donkor is also pregnant and she wants to keep a lot of people in the dark, especially the media.

Few months ago, we reported that Menaye Donkor has been trying to get pregnant without any success—contrary to people’s speculation that the former Beauty Queen is intentionally failing to give Sulley Muntari a child despite her age…

The Rise of ‘Anchor Babies’ With African Celebrity Mothers | Nadia Buari Joins Mercy Johnson & Others On the Train

Crying Baby

Have You Heard Of ‘Anchor Baby’ Before?

“Anchor baby” is a pejorative term for a child born in the United States to non-citizen parents—such a child automatically become an American citizen by jus soli (right of soil/born in the territory).

Interestingly, this citizen by jus soli could later facilitate immigration for relatives who would not otherwise qualify for permanent residence.

The term is generally used as a derogatory reference to the supposed role of the child, who automatically qualifies as an American citizen and can later act as a sponsor for other family members—and not just that, ‘Anchor babies’ are treated less favourably by their peers in some parts of United States.

Despite the above, so many African celebrities who we deem as doing well for themselves on the continent rush to give birth in United States, and it is not mostly for the good healthcare system but for ‘Anchor baby’ status for their children—so that later in life, they can also become USA citizens.

Giving birth in the United States by African Celebrities has become something of a class thing; and even though it seems ‘classy’ to give birth in the United States, I find it exploitative in two days—considering how our African celebrities have turned to this.

First of all, rushing into someone’s country to give birth and enjoy their medical facilities even if you are paying when you have effective facilities in your home country comes across as abuse of the other system. Surely, there is a hell lot mothers enjoy by virtue of having a child in United States—and when such mothers are celebrities who could afford but take these things with ease to the detriment of the ordinary persons, I find it exploitative.

Cut the Crap | Why Don’t Men Want You to Kiss Them Right After S*cking Their Shyt?

Black woman
Black woman

I have experienced this 3 times with 3 different guys and even though I have always wondered what the problem is, it’s what happened this weekend which really got me upset—to the extent that I am writing about it today.

As a woman, I wouldn’t want to be putting my fingers in my thing and then lick them like some damn lollipop but I am reasonable enough not to stop a guy from kissing me, right after he has been down there. It’s called being understanding and not making the other feel he did something gross when you probably enjoyed it, asked him for it or wanted it.

The truth is, the man who spends hours down there (I can take a hell lot of time to get to dreamland) does not necessary get anything from doing so—except to make me happy and perhaps enjoy me ‘moan’ like a damn cat, writes Cynthia Owusu on BrutallyUncensored.Com.

With this in mind, why don’t men realize women do not necessary get anything when we spend time ‘BJing’ them down there—except to hurt our jaws and increase the width of our mouths? Some senseless ones even try to burst your throat…

As mentioned above, on 3 previous occasions I have tried to kiss men who pulled their mouths away after expressly asking for me to go down there —and it didn’t bother me that much to complain because I was ready to get some.  After all, the kissing wasn’t what I truly needed at that time.

But it was pretty off putting to want to kiss someone when it’s all getting interesting and the person starts playing smart with his mouth simply because your mouth just arrived from down there, something he really enjoyed.

Another reason why I was not much bothered about these 3 occurrences as compared to last weekend’s happening is the fact that I voluntarily decide to make things more exciting by going on my knees, though they guarded my head and enjoyed my splendid mouth work. It was like I asked for something; I got it and I had to bear the following reaction or consequence.

But what happened last weekend was nothing like the above. He asked and beg that I should give him that head and after resisting (because it was in a car), I decided to do it under the condition that he should not spray anything into my mouth—which meant he had to alert me or turn to the other side when he was ready to shoot.

Someone Lied to US: KKD and the Rape Victim Did Not Leave the Event/Hotel Hand in Hand As Previously Reported & Shown in A CCTV Video…

KKD rape case
KKD rape case

Do you remember a video which was published by Starr Fm some weeks ago showing Kwesi Kyei Darkwah and his alleged rape victim- Ms Ewuraffe Orleans-Thompson kissing at the African Regent Hotel lobby—and after, we saw the two of them walking outside (the video claimed that was after the sex and they left the hotel/event together).

It seems we were lied to—according to KKD’s own police statement which you can read below, this was not the case.

After the alleged rape, KKD did not see Ms Ewuraffe Orleans-Thompson again that night; so it seems she was not happy about what happened as every normal person who has been raped would—and went straight to the police station

KKD in his statement to the police said, after the event, he went about looking for Ms Ewuraffe Orleans-Thompson and it was during his search for her that the police came for his butt…

Some of these celebrities were once married or in a relationship but for some reasons they ditched their relationships—and took off along with them their kids.

Being a ‘born one or born two’ in a typical African society is somewhat an obstacle to finding a man who would be serious with you. Of course you would easily find someone who wants to hit the TONGA but to settle down with you alongside your ‘baggage’, you must really be worth it.

Perhaps, this is the reason why the below Ghanaian celebrities are still struggling to find that ‘will stay’ man.

Now let the SINGLE mothers shout Hallelujah as we look at our 9 Ghanaian female celebrities with kids but ain’t with the father of the kids…

Weighing In On Shirley Frimpong-Manso’s ‘GREY DAWN’ | When Politics, Family, Genuine & Illicit Affairs Take Center Stage…

Grey Dawn
Watching Grey Dawn

Multiple award-winning film-maker Shirley Frimpong-Manso’s latest movie-Grey Dawn which will start showing in Accra from Friday, 13th February, 2015 takes a big shot at interesting but contrasting human endeavours; politics, family, genuine relationships and illicit affair.

It may seem a little too much to have these strong though conflicting desires come to play in a single movie—however, with her excellent story telling prowess, Shirley Frimpong-Manso succeeds in finding a competing but salient grounds for all these things which have become part and parcel of our human existence.

The movie defines the grounds and boundaries for these human desires but at the end of it all, it becomes obvious which amongst the competing interests takes that single important stage in the lives of the main characters.

Grey Dawn
Grey Dawn

Anyone who has seen many of Shirley Frimpong-Manso’s movies wouldn’t struggle to extract from her films that she is more of an idealists (sociological sense)—and her ‘utopian’ society was once again vivid on screen. By ‘utopian’ society, I mean an African society where a politician is indeed honourable with some sort of conscience in place.

The Storyline…

In ‘Grey Dawn’, a Government Minister (Harold Davis) played by Bimbo Manuel is fixed between using his position to help his father-in-law stay out  of jail for tax evasion or allow the law to take its course with him.

Harold Davis’ decision pulls in his wife’s anger (Jessica Davis played by Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi), worsened by the fact that the stress of the case eventually led to Jessica’s father untimely death.

The anger of Jessica alone would have been bearable for Harold Davis but to watch on helplessly as he begins to loose his wife to the company of a young handsome man—who offers Jessica that perfect wormhole from her darkness into a world of art and music begins to challenge his position as a man, a father and a husband.

Grey Dawn
Grey Dawn

This is where it gets pretty interesting…

As Jessica is taken into a different world of artistry beauty and temporal peace merged with fun; the same wormhole began to pull her returnee daughter into its deep space—this time, made easy by the fact that Jessica’s daughter (Flora Mends played by Sika Osei) had the same obsessions which dwell in the works of this strange man (Jack played by Marlon Mave) whose works and ‘oomph’ had already consumed Jessica.

I wouldn’t want to box this into the concept of utopianism but it’s difficult to find a society where a woman who is married to a prominent Minister of State would run after a somewhat ‘broke’ painter who does not measure on the social ladder…

Grey Dawn (2)
Scene from Grey Dawn

Of course the above is capable of happening, especially when the woman has been hurt and care no more about those things we regarded as valuable or socially relevant—in such cases, she yearns for the simplest of things which she would normally pay no attention to. And this is exactly the position we find Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi’s character…

Ghana, A Worthless Land of ‘JOKERS’ | Madagascar’s Government Resigned Over ‘Dumsor Dumsor’ So Why is Ghana’s Incumbent Government Still in Power?

ECG1
Dumsor Dumsor

I really don’t care about what the heck you have to say about my estimation when it comes to Ghana—because, you are probably one of the many jokers holding the Ghanaian citizenship train in total absurdity, making it lack the needed oxygen of common sense…

Few months ago, I tried selling Ghana to the Chinese with America and the Koreans in mind but no one was interested—including the Chinese who are known for buying everything defined as ‘garbage’.

Even to the Chinese, Ghana is not worth the status of garbage—worth their buying or consideration; and if you missed the article in which I listed Ghana on eBay for sale, CLICK HERE to READ.

Ghana may have a lot of mineral resources and therefore referring to such a country as worthless may sound a little confusing to you but the truth is; it’s not what is buried underground that makes a land worthy of anything in any contemporary discussion of wealth creation—instead it’s the various capabilities of those in charge of land supported by the underworld of minerals.

There are countless countries out there with little or no natural resource but are far worthy than countries like Ghana which have all the things we’ve come to know as ‘expensive stones and liquid’. A typical example of the former is England—a clear indication that, it is the people who live on the land that create its wealth and worth.

A land occupied by animals like the Amazon forest may have a lot of natural resources beneath the surface but these animals cannot really make anything out of the land—and  without being contemptuous, I can say Ghana’s situation can be rightly confused with the Amazon forest example.

Ghana is a pure JOKE to some of us—and anyone who wants to debate this should take me on. I know for certain no sane person will dare to take up this challenge. No good arguments can displace certain things because they are not falsifiable—and Ghana being a joke is one of these things.

Earlier this month, Madagascar’s Government resigned over their own version of ‘Dumsor Dumsor’.  The Prime Minister and the Government’s resignation came following weeks of heavy protest by angry Madagascans who said blackouts (Dumsor Dumsor) have become more frequent since Rajaonarimampianina came to power a year ago. And even before that, the Energy Minister-Richard Fihenena was fired for his inability to solve the problem.
