When did disgusting become synonymous to criminal?
Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni who has been the centre of controversy and global media attention over a harsh anti-gay legislation has explained to CNN his decision to sign the bill into law, saying homosexuals are “disgusting”.
A lot of things are surely disgusting in this world but does that make them criminal?

Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe who celebrated his 90th birthday before thousands of people at a soccer stadium on Sunday, urged his nation to shun homosexuality. Mugabe on Sunday said; ‘We don’t accept homosexuality here. God made men and women so they can bear children,”
Speaking to the more than 45,000 people gathered at the stadium, Mugabe said “I feel as youthful and energetic as a boy of 9”.
Mugabe gave his trademark clenched-fist salute to the crowd, as he and his wife, Grace, stood at the back of a truck that drove around the stadium.
He then cut a 200-pound cake, and 90 cows were butchered for the massive party, estimated to cost $1 million.
Looking at the African setting, I can say the continent is far behind the promotion of any act of homosexuality. But this does not mean conscious efforts should be made to punish homosexuals such as criminalizing being gay with legislative instruments….
Ahead of the signing of Uganda’s harsh anti-gay bill into a legislation, President Barack Obama condemned the move, stating that it would jeopardize the existing known relationship between Uganda and America.

I have seen the statement H.E President Obama of the USA made in reaction to my statement that I was going to sign the anti-homosexual Bill, which I made at Kyankwanzi.
Before I react to H.E. Obama’s statement, let me, again, put on record my views on the issue of homo-sexuals (ebitiingwa, bisiyaga in some of our dialects).
Right from the beginning of this debate, my views were as follows:
1. I agreed with the MPs and almost all Ugandans that promotion of homosexuality in Uganda must be criminalized or rather should continue to be criminalized because the British had already done that;
2. those who agreed to become homosexuals for mercenary reasons (prostitutes) should be harshly punished as should those who paid them to be homosexual prostitutes; and
3. exhibitionism of homosexual behavior must be punished because, in this part of the World, it is forbidden to publicly exhibit any sexual conduct (kissing, etc) even for heterosexuals; if I kissed my wife of 41 years in public, I would lose elections in Uganda.

The rise of downloads and streaming means that digital music now accounts for half of record industry income in the UK for the first time, according to new figures.
Digital revenue increased by 11.9 per cent last year on the back of strong album downloads, with streaming income also rising by 41 per cent, a report by music industry body the BPI has found.
Despite the positive digital figures, revenue from sales of CDs and music videos continued to decline – dropping by 6.4 per cent in 2013 to stand at £365.4million.

An eyewitness- Feng Lin said “expecting, I assume, that the tigers would pounce on him. Instead the two tigers, a male and a female, seemed more nervous than anything else and the female actually ran off.
He then tried to antagonise the tigers by pulling faces at them. Eventually he was attacked by the male where he was cut after being scratched and bitten before he could be rescued by zoo keepers who fired a tranquilliser dart at the male tiger.”

If the Court agrees that the tolls being charged by the University of Ghana is a form of tax (forget the name it is being called), then the University would have violated the 1992 Constitution for enforcing a tax system without an Act of Parliament stipulating so.
Forget all the legal gibberish and interpretations being sought and ask the question; is University of Ghana mandated to ‘primarily’ educate or to collect tolls?
So many taxes and tolls being collected in Ghana and yet we do not know what the monies being collected are used for.
This comes across as another dubious way to extort money from students and other people, using the broken system route.

Two students of the University of Ghana have sued the institution at the Supreme Court over the decision by authorities to charge road tolls.
The two who brought the action in their capacity as Ghanaians are praying the Supreme Court to stop the university from charging the said road tolls.
They are, accordingly, urging the highest court of the land to declare the action of the university as unconstitutional.
