Fast rising actress-Lupita Nyong’o,30, of “12 Years A Slave” fame who has already scored a Golden Globe nomination, Oscars nomination, a few magazine covers has become a victim of skin lightening by Vanity Fair—this is what some section of the public are upset about.

Beautiful Lupita who is originally from Kenyan has been featured in February’s issue of Vanity Fair and ahead of the release, Vanity Fair tweeted a photo from the feature.

The photo which is far from the beautiful dark colour of Lupita seems lightened or at least, the photo shoot was given excessive light to make the actress look lighter than we know her to be.

Trust Japan to be a leader in most things, including bring out beautiful silky bras and panties for them—and we hear market is booming out there.

According to Japanese website RocketNews24, “a retailer who sells via online shopping outlet Rakuten, these undeniably pretty pieces of lingerie are, bizarrely, made for the men of Japan, with new products due to arrive mid February”.

The website continues “the garments are apparently specifically designed with men’s larger frames in mind, and although they still feature all the lace, floral print and underwire you might expect to meet during a rummage through grandma’s knicker collection, the bras’ cup sections lack any padding so as to allow men to slip them on without feeling unnatural”.

In a ‘best bum’ survey commissioned by a British department store, some 2,000 women ruled lingerie model Kelly Brook’s bum is the absolute best, crowning her with the current best bum in the world ‘award’.

Though Kelly Brook has been voted as having the best bum in the world, I can confidently say, I know someone who will beat Kelly easily to take the title—except that she did not compete.

In Decemeber 2012, Ms Naomi Oni, 21, of Nigerian heritage who worked at Victoria’s Secret lingerie shop in Stratford, suffered horrific burns on her face and chest, lost her hair and eyelashes and was left scarred for life in an acid attack.

CCTV footage pointed to a woman wearing an Islamic veil who followed her from work to attack Ms. Oni with the acide.

It has emerged during a Court hearing today, that Ms Naomi Oni was in fact attacked by a friend-Mary Konye, 21, because she was envious of Naomi’s good looks.

According to MailOnline;

Snaresbrook Crown Court heard that Konye, who was studying business and finance at Hertfordshire University, had been close friends with Ms Oni since secondary school.

But she was envious of the shop worker’s good looks, and the pair had rowed in the past leading Konye to attack her with acid previously, it is alleged.

Konye knew Ms Oni had been deeply ‘moved’ by Katie Piper, a model and TV presenter who was badly scarred and left blind in one eye after she was attacked with acid in an ambush arranged by her ex-boyfriend, Daniel Lynch.

For some reason, I do not get offended anymore when I come across ignorant and absurd messages like the one below—-even if it is coming from an educated white person.

Surely, there are still some non-Africans out there who think Africans live on trees and therefore, it is not much of a SHOCK that a PR executive for a major media company would tweeted such a racist ‘joke’…

Before Justine Sacco boarded a British Airways flight 43 to Cape Town yesterday, the Communications Director for IAC, a parent company for Vimeo, OkCupid, Tinder, CollegeHumor, and Dictionary.com sent out a tweet to say: ‘Going to Africa. Hope I don’t get AIDS. Just Kidding. I’m White!’

Her ignorant tweet sparked a social media revolt and it was retweeted over 3,000 times. It was also picked up by news sites around the world while Sacco was still in the air…

Who even sent this man? Now, all his dirty past are being dug out and I am sure he regrets ever going up that stage to ‘FAKE’ things as a sign language interpreter…

Apart from the fact that the revelations indicate he is a thief or a conman, he seems to have a violent and dirty past as he has been once charged with murder and even rape.

And this dude was standing next to world leader’s like Obama? Who did the background checks on him? Where was the CIA even if the South African intelligent agencies were shielding him up?

According to The Independent;

The sign language interpreter accused of “making up” hand gestures at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service has faced charges of murder, rape, kidnapping and theft, it was reported today.

Court records uncovered by the South African news channel eNCA reported that Thamsanqa Jantjie has faced a string of criminal charges since 1994, and was accused of murder in 2003.

The conclusion of the murder case remains unclear, as the court files of the trial have been discovered empty. It has been alleged however that many of the charges brought against Jantjie were dropped due to him being deemed mentally unfit for trial.

This is now getting ridiculous. Thamsanqa Jantjie, the 34 year old sign language interpreter who stood on the high stage at Nelson Mandela’s Memorial Service to throw his hands about as if he was doing justice to what was being said has come out to explain why his total ‘fakery’

It emerged yesterday that, Thamsanqa Jantjie who signed for a portion of the televised event at Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium was simply making up his own signs and the deaf people who were relying on him to understand what was being said were totally LOST as to what he was doing.

Explaining what happened, Thamsanqa Jantjie has said while he was on the big stage, he got a Schizophrenia and begun to hallucinate—so was hearing so many voices…

What an idiot!

According to Sky News;

A “fake” sign language interpreter at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service has reportedly said he suffered a schizophrenic episode.

Thamsanqa Jantjie, who was criticised for apparently making “meaningless gestures” while interpreting the speeches of world leaders on stage, said he takes medication for the condition.

He said he did not know whether it was the scale of the event or the happiness he felt about being involved that triggered the episode.

The 34-year-old, who was pictured signing next to the likes of US President Barack Obama, claimed he suddenly lost concentration and started hearing voices and hallucinating.

He also had visions of angels coming into the stadium and was trying not to panic because there were “armed policemen around me”.

Mr Jantjie said the episode impaired his ability to hear things properly and interpret what was being said, but he did not feel able to leave so continued to sign words and phrases that did not make sense.

Didn’t this interpreter think someone out there will notice what he was doing and call him out? We know there are different sign languages out there but for certain bodies to come out to say he was not using a recognizable sign language makes it a pain—especially to those who were relying on him to know what was being said…

Really stupid on his part if he actually was faking a lot—and just threw his hands into the air without any meaning. How much was he paid anyway?

According to DailyMail;

South Africa’s deaf federation has confirmed that an interpreter using sign language during the Mandela memorial was a ‘fake’.

The man, who signed for a portion of the televised event at Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium was simply making up his own signs, according to the Deaf Federation of South Africa.

The unidentified man seen around the world on television next to leaders like U.S. President Barack Obama ‘was moving his hands around but there was no meaning in what he used his hands for,’ said Bruno Druchen, the federation’s national director.

Three sign language experts said the man was not signing in South African or American sign languages.

Can you believe that despite Nelson Mandela’s struggle to free his people and his commitment to the rule of law, the Nobel Prize winner and former president was still on the U.S. terrorism watch list as in 2008? This is an issue we should not forget as we hold a Memorial Service for him today in South Africa, attended by almost all world leaders.

Sometimes, it is difficult to understand the US foreign and Security policies…

The WashingtonPost writes;

The Reagan administration also followed South Africa’s lead on characterizing the ANC, naming it a terrorist group in the 1970s and forcing Mandela to get special State Department clearance to enter the U.S. in 2008. (“It’s frankly a rather embarrassing matter,” Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said at the time.)

Eventually, of course, the U.S. did pass economic sanctions, which are widely credited for helping topple — at least in part — the apartheid regime. Mandela went on to praise Reagan (as well as President Bush and Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev) for his role in ending apartheid.

But it was Mandela’s outspoken wife, Winnie, who probably best expressed the frayed relationship between the two world leaders — and, for a time in the ‘80s, between the anti-apartheid movement and the United States. In 1986, after Winnie’s home was firebombed and burned down, the Reagan administration offered her $10,000 to rebuild it. She refused.

Yesterday, Transparency International released it’s 2013 survey which contained over 177 countries in its Corruption Perceptions Index…

Interestingly, Ghana was ranked 64 (score 45) last year but the latest survey puts Ghana at 63 (score 46)… According to the survey, more than two thirds of the 177 countries countries scored below 50, where 0 indicates the country’s public sector is seen as highly corrupt and 100 as very clean.

Nigeria scored 25 and was ranked 144 out of the 177 countries…Mali scored 28 and was also ranked 127.

It must be noted that, the most corrupt country ranks 177 and the least corrupt ranks 1.

According to CNN;

Afghanistan, North Korea and Somalia are seen as the most corrupt nations in the world, according to Transparency International’s latest survey, released Tuesday.

More than two thirds of the 177 countries included in the 2013 Corruption Perceptions Index scored below 50, where 0 indicates the country’s public sector is seen as highly corrupt and 100 as very clean.

Denmark and New Zealand performed best with scores of 91. Afghanistan, North Korea and Somalia tied last with 8 points each.

“All countries still face the threat of corruption at all levels of government, from the issuing of local permits to the enforcement of laws and regulations,” said Huguette Labelle, Transparency International’s Chair in a statement.

Nelson Mandela Is Still Very Sick, Unable To Speak

After surviving several false ‘dead alert’, it has emerged that former South African President and Freedom fighter-Nelson Mandela is still sick—and he is unable to speak.

Mandela who is 95 years old has undergone several lungs infection treatment and currently, the tubes being used to clear his lungs have rendered him speechless.

Mandela, who spent 27 years in apartheid jails before becoming South Africa’s first black president in 1994, has faced several health scares.

According to CNN;

Tubes used to clear his lungs prevent Nelson Mandela from speaking, and he uses facial expressions to communicate with doctors and family, according to his former wife.

“He remains very sensitive to any germs, so he has to be kept literally sterile,” Winnie Madikizela-Mandela told South Africa’s Sunday Independent newspaper in an article published Sunday. “The bedroom there [at his home] is like an ICU ward.”
