A Committee set up by the Minister of Energy, Boakye Agyarko, and chaired by lawyer Philip Addison, have found out that the famed AMERI power deal for turbines which was allegedly inflated is quite likely a fraudulent deal.

The 17 member committee found that the Middle Eastern company had charged close to $150m as commission for the deal, and called on government to call AMERI back to the table for a renegotiation as the deal is ‘grossly unfair’ to Ghana.

The incoming NPP’s transition team have reacted with disappointment to new appointments made by the President to bodies like CHRAJ and the NCCE, promising to review the appointments once they take over on January 7.
A statement signed by the head of the transition team, Yaw Osafo Marfo, said the appointments were made in contravention to an agreement reached between the incoming and outgoing governments for such appointments to be made in consultation with each other.

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has sued the President, John Dramani Mahama, for appointing new chairpersons for the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) and the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) with less than three weeks of his tenure to go.
The party, represented by lawyer Philip Addision, filed a writ challenging the appointments of the President.

The flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, was hit by a stone flung from the crowd during a campaign rally in Klottey Korle Thursday.
The 72 year old was addressing a crowd alongside the party’s Parliamentary candidate in the constituency, Philip Addison – when the projectile was hurled at him from the crowd.

Lawyer Philip Addison picked up a hard fought victory over Nii Noi Nortey in the rerun elections to be declared the NPP Parliamentary candidate for Klottey Korle in this November’s general elections.
Addison garnered 396 votes to beat Nii Noi’s total of 367- snatching victory from the latter, who had won the first primary held last August.

The much touted candidacy of lawyer Philip Addison went up in smoke this afternoon in heavily contested polls held in the Klottey Korle constituency.

Former constituency chairman Nii Noi Nortey polled 393 votes, whilst Addison came second with a paltry 22 votes. A third contestant, Samuel Tawiah, got 19 votes.
