I was surfing the web few days ago and came across the video below which features some of Lynx Entertainment and One MIC Entertainment artistes such as Richie, Asem, Lady Prempeh, Vyroz, Kalibos, Okyeame Kwame, OJ Blaq and AJ Nelson in a welcoming song for Prez Obama’s visit to Ghana this weekend. My first reaction was:

“what the heck is this about?” “What kind of butt kissing is this?” Clearly, this is a classic case of inferiority complex that exists in Black Africa and our musicians could have done better than this. I have never seen or heard anything like this happen in any country ever since the beginning of time. Why are we kissing “the white man’s butt again?” Seriously is there nothing to sing about?

Our musicians are reacting as if our savior Jesus Christ has descended from midheaven. This song is a waste of our precious time. What is Obama gonna do? Eradicate our poverty?  Have they even composed any song for  Mandela? I am not the only one who has this view. Ghanaians all around the world are certainly not happy about their naivety. However not taking any credit from the musicians, it is actually a nice collaboaration. The Lynx boys Asem, Oj bring in the crunk tune, kwame adds the hiplife flavor and then you also hear some reggae and gospel tunes as well. But they would have sold a hell of cds if they sang about something reasonable.
