The issues or controversies that surround the prestigious Ghana Music Awards annually are mostly categorization; nominations and to the larger extent eventual winners. This year’s award could possibly suffer similar fate, according to the ‘experts’.
It has been reported by Peacefmonline that the Categorization Committee for the “Ghana Music Awards” which is made up of industry players such as Amandzeba, Billy Ocean, David Dontoh, Abraham Ohene Djan, Bull Dog amongst others have completed the categorization of this year’s music awards slated for the 10th of April this year.
The Categorization Committee were said to have met under one roof and brainstormed amidst heated arguments as to what must come under what category.
Speaking on Peace Fm “Entertainment Review Programme”, the CEO of Slip Music Entertainment and a key member of the Planning Committee of the Ghana Music Awards, Mark Okraku Mantey confirmed the completion of the final nomination list in various categories of the event, stating that it will be released to the media very soon.
Categorization will always be a difficult task, since year after year brings different genre in Ghana. If a song like “Swagger” by “Ruff and Smooth” could pose a serious problems and heated arguments to the ‘learned’ gurus in the industry then that actually explains what to expect when finally the full nomination in each categories are announced.
