Mzbel: What I Wear On Stage Is Strictly For Show Business

Answering questions about her dressing when performing on stage, Mzbel told DUST “What I wear on stage is strictly for show business. You know? When I’m on stage, its like I’m in my office and I have to wear my uniform”.

She plays down the call for her to wear something not revealing especially when she is on stage. “If I come on stage in African fabric and I can’t move, people will say I’m confused. I don’t want to look like the people who came to see me; I want to look different, like an artist. I want to entertain. That’s exactly what I do and people always complain”.

She further said “You don’t expect a doctor or the nurse to be wearing what you want them to. They wear their uniforms when they are in the hospital and remove it when they are not. When you go to the beach you can’t say ‘because I’m an African, I will wear kaba and slit to swim. This is not our culture so I will wear batakari to swim’.

Sultry Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson, has said that achieving success in the Nigerian movie industry was not on a bed of roses, as she had been asked to take movie role in exchange for sex.

Mercy, who is arguably the most sought-after Nollywood actress of the moment, told nigeriafilms.com in an interview that it takes only God to be successful in the Nigerian movie industry.
