Becca, Shasha Marley & Kojo Antwi Show In South Africa Flopped

The opening ceremony of the first World Cup on the African soil was telecast live to the whole world. As the performances went on, the microphone was handed to artistes upon artiste to perform.

Ghanaians who were glued to their television sets to catch a glimpse of the historic event wondered why no Ghanaian was called upon to perform, especially when noise has been made in the Ghanaian media about some musicians (Becca, Kojo Antwi and Shasha Marley) being selected to perform on the opening ceremony.

GhanaCelebrities.com can confirm that the story published about FIFA selection of Becca and co to perform on the opening ceremony was a fabrication. Meanwhile, the show publicized to take place at Rhodes Park in Johannesburg, South Africa, from June 9 to 11 to welcome and entertain the football fans, prior to the tournament was a flop.

Kojo Antwi and Shasha Marley didn’t turn up for the show. The latter didn’t give reasons for not turning up but GhanaCelebrities.com is reliably informed that Kojo Antwi said organization was bad and he didn’t want be part of any ‘yawa’ show. Our source chipped in that, Becca ended up performing alone with some unknown artistes from Abidjan and South Africa.

GhanaCelebrities.com has learnt that FIFA did not contact any musician from Ghana to be part of the opening ceremony, though Osibisa’s ‘Sunshine Day’ was sang by an unknown artiste at the ceremony.

  1. The writer of the above story is illiterate and is not update with issues. I read the story of Becca, Kojo and Shasha to perform in SA. The story said that the event was being organised by African Village but the writer of the story mentioned FIFA as the organisers, what a shame. Some time I asked myself are some of these so called entertainment writers well trained. Pls Ebenezer Anangfio Jnr. of GhanaCelebrities.com should go back to the classroom to learn and stop misleading the public. Infact as a reader I have stop reading stories on Ghanacelebraties.com because of the bad grammer and construction. They should get better editors to check their writings. A word to a wise is more than enough. Thank you

  2. I read the story in the Daily Guide which stated that the event was being organised by African Village, based in South Africa in which stars like Becca, Shasha and a few others have been contacted to perform. But this reporter who did a lazy job by sitting behind his TV set misled Ghanaians by saying that FIFA did not contact any Ghanaian artiste to perform. The writer should go back and correct himself since Becca, Shasha, Kojo Antwi did not say they were going to perform for FIFA. It is on record that the artistes mentioned were going to perform at RHODES PARK IN Joannesbourg and it is free for African Village clients.
The said reporter of the story should render an appology to the said artistes because the story was mischief.
