Samini Versus Akon: Who Makes A Better Apology Song?

blank
Akon vrs Samini

Well, depending on how holier you are than me, you may rather ask which of these two make the worst apology song. But the fact that these two music stars released hit songs to make a bad situation look better for them, takes tact that only a few of their contemporaries have.

When Senegalese singer Akon came under public scrutiny for dancing lewdly with an under-aged Danah Alleyne, daughter of a local pastor, at the Zen nightclub in Port of Spain he decided to do a song to apologize for his actions. β€œBlame It On Me” became an international hit and was put on his re-released album, β€˜Konvicted’. Β But had the R&B star truly regretted his actions? Check out these lyrics:

As life goes on I’m starting to learn more and more about responsibility
I realize everything I do is affecting the people around me
So I want to take this time out and apologize for things I have done
And things that have not occurred yet
And the things they don’t want to take responsibility for

Interesting right? Wait there is more:

I’m sorry that it took so long to see
They were dead wrong trying to put it on me
I’m sorry that it took so long to speak
But I was on tour with Gwen Stefani
I’m sorry for the hand that she was dealt
For the embarrassment that she felt
Just a little young girl trying to have fun
Her daddy should never let her out that young
I’m sorry for Club Zen getting shut down
I hope they manage better next time around
How was I to know she was underage
Enter 21 you know the club they say
Why doesn’t anybody wanna take blame
For rising back out disgracing my name
I’m just a singer trying to entertain
Because I love my fans I’ll take that blame
Even though the blame’s on you [3x]
I’ll take that blame from you

When Ghanaian king of dancehall, Samimi was reported to have engaged two women in 2 years without breaking off with either of them, he responded much differently. Samini didn’t necessarily do a song to a address the situation but he released a video for his song, β€˜Sweetest Mistake’/ so what kind of mistake could be so sweet? Check out the lyrics:

She has a boyfriend, I’ve got girlfriends
We were just friends, so I didn’t intend
To make the rules then, I made moves then
She felt it smooth like she wanna get the groove on
Oh, what a sweet mistake, she say she wanna do it again
She like the way I roll, she no dey want my dough
She just dey love my show, she say I no be slow
She simply wanna know if she could get to go to paradise with me like I be saying in my flows
She say I be the reason why she move to DC….

I no dey like to take another man girl
Go back to him and stop to bother my world
I got my wife, and my kids and my girls
And every other day, I see more single girls
Big girls, deep girls, and simple girls
Almighty bless my world with many many girls
Oh, what a big mistake! confess to your boy and be realistic

        • @ghallday, Yes a lot of stamina. Eventually the body will start feeling the stress of ” managing” four wives but … but it always beats me mind- why would FOUR women agree to share one man? I never see FOUR men agreeing to share one woman.

  5. How about some Ghanaians show a little pride in our celebrities and start thinking outside the box….Go to a typical Ghanaian household you’ll local artist album mixed with an international artist, the same for films and even sports where a die hard Brekum Arsenals fan can also be a Man U fan or lets look at the foods we eat some Ghanaians can throw-down on some pizza and the following day banku and okro…..now if we can do all these things without thinking twice, why can we talk about it the way we live it…..its no crime?

I rather like that this website will dare to compare the two, shit Imma compare Samini to Akon yes ME NA ME DI ME HU yes. I will also compare Seal to Kojo Antwi, yes and I will compare Megan Fox to Nadia Buari yes and I will compare compare compare and contrast till it becomes natural to an American to eat banku and okro the way it finally became natural for them to throw down on some chow mein or get down on some Jay Sean or Sean Paul. Yes, keep doing it GC, keep it up.

      • @lily, sis Lily, in fact its time, I just feel it very soon kwesi bruni will open a chain of fast foods called McBanku lol

Look, they already do it with coffins and call it their own…did you know today in the states a man can die and ask for a plane coffin…..now tell me who gets the copyrighted checks for that invention(not the Ga Mantse) and that’s messed up.

So, we really gotta take ownership here you know. Samini is an excellent artist and that song can go head to head with the Akon version…but anyway glad we can agree

  8. Naija musicians are kings in Ghana and our musics are played every where in Ghana so produce a good music so you can be noticed rather than comparing yourself to great artist like Akon while your music is not heard any where in west Africa .Shame on you work hard rather than always comparing yourself with people that are bigger than you,if you do not compare yourselves to Nigerians you compares yourselves to Americans I know you want to fly higher like us but it is gradual process not by frustration or in a hurry be patient we will support you to be like us.We are the most influncial country in Africa we are always in the news that makes us great.Do not kill yourselves over Nigeria issues you can never be like us never we are greater.Your country is 18 million in population so you compare yourselves with only one stated in Nigeria which is Lagos state.Foooooooooooooooooooolfoooooolfooooooooolfool ugly people.

the girl in samini’s video should remove that blond weave and it looks like she’s dancing in a bra and panties. :-\

  14. An apology demands a very soft and touching tone. Apart from that, ones action should depict the greeve in him when apologising. To make it simple, Samini’s ‘Sweet Mistake’ can’t be attributed to an apology because it lacks the ingredients of an apology – ‘sorry’, ‘please’ and others. On the other hand Akon’s ‘Sorry Blame It On Me’, has strong words of apology which also shows in the video. To me, ‘Sweet Mistake’ is a mockery song and not an apology song.

    • @Prezydent,and who says ingredients for apology are sorry, please etc? have u listened to the Akon track reali well? get a copy, spend 2nyt listening to it attentively and come back tomorrow.

  15. @ Ghanacelebrities – Samini’s song is not an apology song! ya’ll did not go to school? Samini is not even refering to the situation with marrying 2 wives cause he does not regret marrying them and knew what he was doing when he married both. I have insider info that it is some girl who’s car he was driving about the place in Ghana that he was refering to with sweet mistake! Akon wins this one! SAMINI IS A JOKE!
