RISING GHANAIAN dancehall icon Iwan is about to face one of the biggest challenges ever in his music career.

The young chap has bagged two nominations in the upcoming 4syte Music video awards scheduled for November 20, with his song ‘Me Gurl Love Me’.

He has been nominated in the Discovery of the year and the Best Reggae Video of the year categories. With the reggae category, Iwan is facing strong competition from artistes like Blakk Rusta, Blaq Suede, Wutah, Black Prophet and Kese.

In the Discovery category, he is also up against equally good artistes Eazzy, Mimi, OJ Blaq, Ruff & Smooth and Jon Germain. Obviously, he is the only the reggae artiste in this category. But whether that can transcend into him being the only artiste to win that category is a different ball game.

For now, the only hope for Iwan is Ghanaians who will be voting via short code 1924 on all networks. Iwan’s manager, Bulldog, believes that the young chap has come a long way and could spring a surprise, hoping that Ghanaians will vote for him.

Iwan officially announced his presence on the music scene with the launching of his debut album on Sunday September 12 this year at the Aphrodisiac Nightclub. The event had a rousing patronage as it attracted one of the biggest crowds ever to the Aphrodisiac Night Club.

The title of the album is ‘My Time.’  Songs on it include the controversial single ‘That Day’, ‘Still Love Me’ and the inspirational single ‘Thanks & Praise.’

  2. Whatever you do, please don’t mention that Jon Germain guy to me. He looks gay and has no talent. Not sure why anybody would nominate a guy who cannot sing for such an award – it shows how broken and short-sighted the Ghanaian entertainment industry is. Ban the autotune nonsense.
