Weekly Discussion: Let’s Get Talking: What Makes Partners Cheat & Can You Forgive A Cheat?

blank

Cheating is a disease that if brought into any loving relationship, be it marriage or girl-boyfriend relationship has undisputable clout to bring such relationships to abrupt end.

The reasons why people cheat on their partners are enormous. Whiles some of these reasons are absurd, others are a bit convincing.

I believe no matter what a reason maybe, it should not be a justification to cheat on someone who has given you his or her whole heart, trusting and living his or her life intertwined with yours.

The common justification most cheats go for is, “she or he pushed me to cheat or what he/she did made me to cheat”.

The questions for this week’s discussion are as follows,

  • What are some of the things that if done could make a man or woman cheat?
  • Can you forgive a person who has cheated on you and forget about the whole thing ever happening?
  • Can a cheat turn a new leave or does the saying once a cheat always a cheat stands?

  1. I think people who cheat especially men are just like dogs. You have a woman and you leave her to go chase another one. What reasons can you give to justify that? No matter what someone does, it doesnt mean you should cheat.

I know a friend who cheated on her man and she was forgiven, few months down the line, she did it again, so it is true that when someone cheats once, she will always cheat.

When someone cheats . no matter how hard you try to forgive them, it will always come back to haunt you. To me, when someone cheats, I will walk away since you can never really forget it , you will not even trust the person again.

  2. I can give my opinion based on experience.  going through the three questions:

    1.   I have noticed a cheater will blame the other for cheating. Usually u will hear this after u would come to the cheater with questions and concerns of  they was doing…  what they would turn and call accusations.  I figure the blame was put on the victim to make themselves feel better about what he was doing in the first place.  The justification I have heard said is “you are so I will too, and keep saying it and I will really do it, you must want me to do it.”  In the end they admit it all though.   My question is why cant cheaters be adults and say, I want to see other people if thats the case?  Why be sneaky about it all? Oh, I know, because deep down they have fear of losing the one they are cheating on.  Have your cake and eat it too I guess. 😐

    2.  I can and have forgave a person for cheating before.  But, it doesn’t go away, you will never forget about it and any relationship would never be as strong. When I kiss someone, I will think of that other person kissing them.  When I make love, I may think how good was this other chick to you?  ah….so it never goes away even if you try.  You feel foolish and like your not good enough when in reality your not the one with the problem.  Every individual situation and what a person can take is gonna be different, of course.  A person may argue “I only did it once” but a one night stand and an ongoing secret relationship still hurts equally.  I could perhaps forgive a one night fling depending on how deeply I loved a man, but him having a second relationship, I could not do.  That means he gives time, energy, emotions, money, ideas and aspirations, and everything else  with that person,  everything that is supposed to be sacred to you alone.  Thats not right at all.   I personally can only forgive once and if they want to sincerely change, after the second time, its ova.

3..  I think a cheat can turn a new leaf, because people effect everyone in different ways.  Maybe this cheat wasnt really in love with the person they cheated on in the first place.  They meet someone new, and cant imagine cheating on that person because they are so madly in love.  A second, plausible scenario: someone really could have made a huge mistake and is sick with regret over sleeping with someone once, forgiven only to never cheat again.  I could only imagine this with the most mature of couples who have been together for some time though.
