After missing not only the exciting end to Chelsea’s season but also the biggest competition in international football (World Cup), Michael Essien is back. The Ghanaian football star has made it onto the front page of September edition of Chelsea Magazine. Considering the number of world class players such as Frank Lamped, John Terry and Ivory Coast’s Drogba, this to some extent shows how high the Ghanaian star is regarded at Chelsea.
The Ghanaian midfielder helped Ghana qualify for the world cup but could not participate in the games due to an injury sustained while playing for Ghana at the African Cup Of Nations.
Essien has fully recovered from his injury and told the Chelsea magazine September edition that “it is good to be back in the team (Chelsea) and I’m looking forward to the new season”. He showed he is ready for the start of the season by scoring a goal in pre season.
Essien displayed some great touches during Chelsea’s match against Manchester United in the community shield.
Essien hopes to be injury free this season and help Chelsea achieve great things. Chelsea kicks off their season against West Brom at Stanford Bridge on Saturday at 17:30.
