Yvonne Nelson Slapped With One Year Ban In Nigeria For Ranting & Walking Off Set B’cos Some Waivers Were Granted To Jackie Appiah

Yvonne Nelson Wig & Lips

According to Myjoyonline and Nigeriafilms.Com, Ghanaian Actress Yvonne Nelson has been slapped with 1 year ban in Nigeria.

Even though the Actress is currently said to be serving 2 years ban in Ghana, she recently told NewsOne that she has not been banned. According to Yvonne, she has not received any official letter from FIPAG imposing a ban on her and therefore she is not officially aware of any ban on her as an actress.

When I thought the whole Yvonne Nelson ban saga was a thing of last year, she is in the news again for another ban slammed on her far in Nigeria. I do not get the direction of this report ( seems like it is the same Ghana incident being wrongly reported ) but if you care to know, then Read below for more….

__________________________________________________________________

Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson is starting the year on a bad note after reports indicate that she has been slapped with a one-year ban by Nigerian film producers.

This ban, according to Nigeriafilms.com, was necessitated by Yvonne’s feud over the granting of some waivers to fellow Ghanaian actress, Jackie Appiah, on a production set in Nigeria.

There have been remours of a growing tension between the two actresses with Yvonne Nelson constantly demanding the same or better treatment from directors and producers meted out to Jackie Appiah.

Yvonne Nelson is reported to have ranted and walked off a set after she heard of Jackie’s waiver.

A communiqué issued by the Nigerian producers on the ban stated that: “Any director or producer who features her (Yvonne Nelson) in his or her movie would be blacklisted and any movie she does in Nollywood, would not be sold in Ghana.”

The Nigerian producers also indicated that, they want to bring sanity to the industry and also to send a powerful message to others who may think that they can impose their will and rubbish the discipline and professionalism that they have worked hard to foster in that industry.

Last year, Yvonne Nelson became the first Ghanaian movie personality (actress) to be banned in Ghana after series of complaints lodged against her.

She was perceived to be arrogant giving movie producers, distributors and marketers no choice than to use her as a scapegoat in an attempt to bring sanity into the movie industry.

She is currently serving that Ghana ban together with Ekow Smith Asante and Kofi Adjorlolo who have been banned for two years.

  1. i think its obvious that something or someone is working against this gal, and its fishy that its always to do with jackie appiah…….i hope jackie is not using some dark forces to destroy this bautiful and talented actress cos i hear she did on vasti jones may her soul rest in peace!

    • lol…..hahahahahaaaaaa. …But seriously, We should let Vashit Jones A.K.A. Nana Yaa rest in peace and I don’t thank home girl kill her. Yes, her death was some kinda mysterious death after falling ill on set of a movie she was shooting with Van Vicker, Jackie Appiah, Nadia and company’s.

Anyways, Yvonne hasn’t learn to control her temper when she’s around Jackie Appiah and that’s not a good look. I like her but seriously she’s loosing her career for no reason over her co-worker. WTF?

  2. Frankly I am tired of this news. It’s like if there is no Yvonne Nelson news then there is no ‘celebrity news’.
I think Yvonne should look at this ban thing as a blessing in disguise. She can focus on her philanthropic work, which is awesome. I even go as far as saying that she should tighten her skills as an actress by taking some acting classes (go to NY dear the schools there are awesome), and try to get some work outside of Ghana and Nigeria. Girl, see if your manager/agent can get you auditions in USA, Britian or even Europe. Maybe your “attitude” is because you are not being challenged. It happens. Don’t worry about these bans. God knows what He is doing. All things work together for good for those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. Personally I get so tired of hearing all the crap, I would have a problem if I were in your shoes. Hold your head up and don’t let the cesspool of semi-talented people get to you. The movie industry down there appears to be a cesspool of limited talents who strut their stuff like they are gods. It’s the big fish in small pond mentality. My advice to you, Yvonne, is to develop an aire of professionalism about you (that includes the people in your inner-circle), take some acting classes so you can cross over into the international market and focus on your Glaucoma Foundation. Good things will come your way soon. Peace.

      • @ Opanin, I addressed the post to Ms. Yvonne Nelson. I also stated several things (althought not in order) of things she could do, including taking some acting classes. Did you miss that part or what? Also, in case you are not aware pple get cast in movies for several different roles (not all roles are leads). She can get cast as an extra, support/ small speaking roles (sometimes they need ppl with specific accents). So in spite of what you may think, there are various opportunities for this girl to begin to be exposed (if she hasn’t already been. She may very well have the exposure I don’t know), to working with others outside of Africa. Every opportunity brings the experience of learning and growing.

  3. It is the same Ghana ban being reported. I read the news on myjoyonline.com  and browsed the source indicated ( nigeriafilms.com)  and I found out that there is nothing new. They were now reporting the ban.

I think a lazy journalist at joyfm just read the headline without reading the full story and wrote what he/she likes!

      • Dude hold your horse man. I don’t need to say much cause both Goodies and Mother already put their two cent on it.

But the question is, what is the different between what Yvonne is doing on the silver screen than other actress like Nadia, Ama K, Kalsum Sinare and even Jackie doing?Don’t get me wrong  because I ain’t trying to compare them and you and I know all their levels and standards are totally different but before you open you mouth with that invalid question you should’ve observe what the lady has done so far.

Yes, I did believe you when you said not everyone that appears on the big screen has a career and that is the truth cause I myself have seen one hit wonder before.

Remember, Yvonne did not win the “favorite actress” movie awards last year for nothing man.

  7. this matter is quite old,i mean why they really ban yvonne in nigeria.she had some issues involving one director like that, over giving preferencial treatment to jackie.they had an arguement about it and yvonne  got angry and left and did not come back to set.giving one more preference against the other is  not alright too.i find offensive, and not only that  ,the same people who gave her ban ,has been lobbying nigrian film makers to ban yvonne to give more legitimacy to their action in ghana where more people  are constantly  finding it not normal anymore about the ban thing.so if you ask them about the ban in ghana now, i guess they will tell you ,oh”look nigerians banned her too .this is all bullshit as far as am concerned.this is like people using their inflence in an authoritative manner.i  know that people in ghana are fair minded people  they should tell whichever people that are doing thieps that enough is enough.everyone has his or her own dark side.the people doing this to her are not perfect either.

  8. @Leticia shame on you and your crew at Ghana celebrities. I thought this site was created to support Ghanaian celebrities not to play favoritism. You all have a habit of bashing Yvonne all the time. Why do you have some sort of contract with Jackie Appiah? My question is how many times do you come across Nigerians playing favoritism and bashing their own stars? Very rare you no why because they are die hard fans and extremely supportive. This is because nobody is perfect. If you have a problem or a beef with Yvonne i am sure you have her contact, get in touch with her. These constant uproar, allegations, and hatred against Yvonne will not work. Please i am sure the idea behind creating this site is professional and fair but sorry to say that you people have failed.

  9. I hate it when people just beginning criticizing and judging Yvonne as soon something is published about her. If she feels she is not been treated fairly, she has every right to speak out. Is she suppose to keep shut when her right is been abused? I do not think if done to either of you, you will not act the same way. Let’s stop being hypocritical and judgmental. The industry is competitive, yet it should be free and fair. Many do not even know her, yet they bash her inappropriately. Please spare this girl, no one is perfect in this world. The funny thing is that those with worst and stinking attitudes tend to insult first and more. But Yvonne the Bible says criticisms makes us strong and better people. If one has not sinned he or she should be the first to throw a stone that’s my word.

  12. @Opanin, the post was directed to Yvonne Nelson. BTW since you responded, did younot read the portion of the post that encouraged her to take some acting classes or you just overlooked that all together? Since you are not a casting agent you don’t have to worry about what she would be auditioning for.

  15. I think Yvonne is just a desperate Jackie wannabe but it won’t work. It was even Jackie and Van who made this Yvonne popular with Princess Tyra movie. Jackie was already a household name in Africa and the world before Yvonne even dreamt of acting. First she wanted to be treated like Jackie which is impossible and ridiculous, and now she got angry and jealous cos of common waivers? Comparing herself to Jackie was the undoing of her career. How dare her wannabe compare herself to the unbeatable talent and beauty queen. Jackie is an A class actress and the highest paid whilst Yvonne is not even a C class actress. It serves her right as jealousy and envy does no one any good.It should serve as an eye opener for the other actresses who wanna compare themselves to their superiors or seniors. Does she think she belong in the same class or or started acting the same day with Jackie? Yvonne should even be grateful she had a short cut to the somewhat middle class cos there are other acts who were there before her but r still trying to get to her place despite their enormous talents. Who take banana dash monkey!? Jackie is the most friendly and humble Ghanaian actress and is loved by all so if she if having difficulty with Jackie then she needs serious help. Look at even the number of stars and public figures who attended her birthday. She is so blessed and highly favored. Yvonne can die with jealousy koraa …..I don’t care.

  17. Dear friends, no need insulting each other, what the producers did wasnt gud, what Nelson also did wasnt gud, producers shoud stop favourism and act as model producers. They all brought smiles on our faces, so none should be favoured, i know women are grt enemies to their women folks, and why should this producer favour Jacky? my dear Nelson plz try as much as u can to control ur anger and ignore things like that. and dear friends Nelson is grt she is being none in africa and world at large for her grt acting skills just like Jacky, we should appreciate them for these skills, u insulting her why didnt u go on stage and make urself known to ur community not to talk of ur country just like she did, just the fact that she is on stage and entertaining the public is some thing. Have u ever acted a drama? so you should learn to appreciate pples effort, Nelson u r grt girl and a very gud actress. is she the first to be banned?, when Genevive, Ramsey Noah and others where banned what happened, so u guys should stop insulting pple who have tried to make the name of ur country known all over the world and appreciate them for their gud and grt talents. i am not a Ghanaian nither am i a Nigerian, but we should learn to appreciate.

  18. These goes to Malaika “She is so blessed and highly favored. Yvonne can die with jealousy koraa …..I don’t care. Malaika”
Malaika u are a disgrace to women folks, Do u have a personal problem with Nelson? woah its like u two dated the same guy and this guy loved Nelson more than u, thats all i can say. Have u ever tried a drama? why insulting some body who have at least utilised her efforts. Shame on u, no matter how bad she is it was ur place to appreciate her for making Ghana known. If she wasnt that gud then producers wont have been going for her, and her film have a grt market in africa and the world. Can u act a drama in pre-nusery? instead of u making the world know that Ghana is doing some thing by appreciating u r instead bringing Ghana down, never u show ya face in public bcos u r a disgrace to Ghana, u should be put in jail for the rest of ya life, shameeeeeeeeeeeeee ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Malaika, u r not only a disgrace to Ghana but to africa, why didnt u show ur ugly face in public? bcos u dont have confident in urself, go on stage like Nelson let the world see u too if pple will not have nite mare, if Jacky brought her to lime lite its bcos she wanted ghana to know Nelson, ur behaviour here shows that u r worst than Nelson and if u were in her shoe u would have done ur worst. Wicked woman Malaika.

Too bad for our african folks especially the Ghanaians for critising their fellow country woman, how will other countries look upon u guys?. When are we going to progress? We should always think well before voicing out any thing bcos the whole world is reading not only Ghana. tnx
