Social Issue: Unreported World Focus On Nigeria: Sex, Lies And Black Magic…

blank

What can I say? I am still in a total shock and cannot fathom what all the strong desire of young Africans (especially my people- Nigerians) to go to Europe is all about.

Young girls knowingly and unknowingly are brought to Europe to engage in indiscriminate prostitution to enrich some few “Madams”. Poverty and ignorance is to be blamed for all this kind of nonsense… I am really sad!

    • Rita’s Boss is a woman called “madam”!?? Ei Awuruade! this is really sad. A woman would treat her fellow woman like this? And I am sure this madam is a Nigerian woman.

  1. I just cannot understand this at all… What is wrong with some of us? The presenter is trying to convince the chick not to make the journey as nothing lies ahead for her , yet she is keen on going…

This is exactly what many back in Africa do when you tell them, Europe or America is as bad as anywhere so don’t sell your property or leave your job to come here…

I was once told, if it is bad, then what are you doing there yourself? Such people, I say to them, okay come and join…

    • haha ..thats true chris ..they would never belive you if u telll them the truth in europe and america ..europe and america is not for everyone ..people are destined to make it in their own country thats why some sell their property come here and or even borow money or etc come and it doesnt work for them and go back to africa and make it big there rather … now that oppotunities are coming in africa too one can make it anywhere ..even better now in africa then europe ….. its all abt determination and hard work …. though there are some things easier done here … i must say to this documentary after watching it its soo pathetic selling ur soul to a juju to make a money tru prostitution in europe ….lord enlighten the ignorants ….

    • Hi Chris, You can as well consider writing on another social issue which I recently found on CNN ..a documentary by motherboard.tv on sakawa in Ghana.it includes an interview with Socrate Safo and his “sex movie crew”. I laughed when I heard them indicating that  they only do realistic movies that will project Africa to Africans and I wonder if movies about sex fulfills their objective.

    • lol true  Chris. I’ve heard that a few times, ” if it’s so bad out there why aren’t back home to stay”? . Some horror human trafficking stories leaves me dumbfounded.  There is no love  just a  pimp>bitch  relationship

    • I agree wid u Chris.Sometimes wen u tell pple back home how u stuggle 2 combine school & work they just don’t want 2 believe.Dis is just as a result of poverty coupled with laziness and greed.People shd try & make do with what they have & live within their means.

    • chris youre right. if you tell them how bad the western world is, then they feel like you dont want them to enjoy the good life, as if we feel intimidated. anyway humans are like that they want to experience before they will believe

    • it really does look very aweful, but i can totally understand why they do what they do.
for some of these girls, this is like once in a lifetime oportunity, there isnt any hope for a better life for these lots. if i was living in a similar situation as they and a chance like these beckons, i would definately give a very strong consideration… chris life is really tough for some of our sisters back home…u guys should not  be quick to lay blame..

  2. This is what corruption has caused in Nigeria People are so scared of poverty that they are ready to sell their souls to the devil It’s a show of shame that the same government who advocates against prostitution don’t even realize the consequences of their corruption was far devastatingly affecting lives massively

    • it aint  just in nigeria, stuff like this are happening all over africa ( gh included) , even in the eastern part of europe..am not entirely surprised and i find some of the comments here very shallow..anyone who had lived in any west african country before should know stuff like this happens all time…

  3. Cultural beliefs are so strong that it often override our sense of independent judgement. Also the phenomenological perception of “it wont happen to me” . Poverty is an exceptional social contruction, this is driven by relative deprivation…when we are deprived of something we know we should have, as in this case a life with simple basic things, all that is in front of the person is the means. Italy is the means and by any means necessary they are going to get what they ‘need’. The fact that this girl has only left her village once to go to Lagos says a lot. Do you really think that by someone describing ‘biting’ cold temperatures she can imagine what it is like? No, of course not. So in reality her perception is skewed. She and others like her has no basis of comparison. All they know is europe is a good place to make a living. What they need to start doing is send the boyfriends to sell there asses to the homos to make money for their women back home.

    • on average, folks who moved to europe , despite the hardship and other forms of segregation they go through , still live a better life than those back home…there are exceptions though

Damn so we see some older women cruising round in life living big life and this is how some of them are making their money! This is truly what we called dirty money…DAMN. This issues really is unreported as the title says…

    • Well there are over 150,000,000 people in Naija. So 20,000 it seems to them not such a big number or such a terrible social problem…sadly

  8. our leaders are to blame too. with all the wealth of many african countries, all they do is enrich themselves, people gotto eat.

maybe if we also put in the same effort as we do when we go abroad, we’ll improve and have a better standard of living.  we are prepared to work 18hours abroad but only do a meager 5hours in our homeland.

seen the scores of people watching a man doing petty magic in the busy streets of kumasi or accra on a monday morning? talk of too much time!
