    • @efua, Efua never mind ok, whether she is Ghanaian or not what I know is that she makes us proud. Because whenever she is mentioned she is as a Ghanaaian and not as a Lebanese. Her name does not ring a bell in Lebanon, but rather she is well known here. So if she ever makes mention of not being a Ghanaian then we would refer her all these brouhaha’s. So hold your peace.

  4. Im proud for her to win and what not but I haven’t seen her STAR in any movie yet and impress me. I hope Shirley gives her an opportunity to show what she has. BUT i do love her dress and if you ask me she’s one of the most sexiest actresses. Her body just might be the best right there next to Mercy Johnson and maybe Martha Ankomah(she has a serious bumpa) LOL

Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson has won Ghana Best Actress Award at this year’s City People Awards. The event was held last Sunday at Lekki in Nigeria.

The event, which was organized by City People Media Group, publishers of City People Magazine, brought together hundreds of the crème de la crème of Nigeria’s showbiz industry as well as a few stars from Ghana.

The Ghanaian delegation included Afya and adorable actress Yvonne Nelson who snatched the enviable award of Ghana’s best actress. Yvonne, a popular actress with good looks, has starred in many Ghanaian and Nigerian movies.

Her 2008 lead role in the movie ‘Princess Tyra’, which also featured Van Vicker, was her claim to fame. Currently with a tall list of movies to her credit, Yvonne is not a household name only in Ghana but Africa as a whole.

The City People honor was also for her contribution to the Ghana and Nigeria movie industries for the past years. Unconfirmed reports say other Ghanaian celebrities were also honored at the awards at the ceremony; but Yvonne’s was confirmed at press time yesterday.

Sunday’s recognition makes it her fourth in her career as an actress.

In 2009, she was named Joy Fm Nite with the Stars Best Actress. Last year, she was adjudged Ghana’s Favourite Actress at the first Ghana Movie Awards. Also, her song about glaucoma picked up a prize at the last Ghana Music Awards.
