Information has it that, HekCentrik Productions has pulled some of the biggest African movie personalities such as Jackie Appiah, Igoni Archibong, Patience Ozokwor, Enyinna Nwigwe, Ebbe Bassey and Chelsea Eze to star alongside Hollywood actors Lauren London (“ATL”, “I Love You, Beth Cooper”, “Good Hair”), Ernie Hudson (“Ghostbusters”, “Law and Order”, “Desperate Housewives”), Todd Bridges (“Diff’rent Strokes”, “Everybody Hates Chris”), Cynda Williams (“Mo’ Better Blues”, “Introducing Dorothy Dandridge”) and Joe Estevez (“Apocalypse Now”, “Spanish Fly”) in a movie ‘Turning Point’
It seems like each day, African movie stars such as Jackie Appiah and others are slowly gravitating towards their Hollywood dreams.
Turning Point is written and will be directed and produced by Niyi Towolawi and co-produced by Egor Efiok .
The movie is set in New York and it will explore ethnic prejudice amongst the various black communities in America (a la “Crash”).
It will centre around a Nigerian investment banker who bows to family pressure to abandon his American lover for an arranged wife from back home. His life gets messy and things turn upside-down when the marriage turns out not too rosy, setting off a chain of events that compels him to confront his reckless past.
Probably, Jackie Appiah can now say, Hollywood here I am with my African glory. Are we there yet or is she there yet?

@Broyaw, GC knows exactly what the definition of “Hollywood Movie” is. Back in February of this year there was the whole “Kathy vs Joy/Leila fight” over what makes a movie able to adopt the term “Hollywood”. Joy had posted an article stating Leila was doing a Hollywood movie, and a GC reader by the name of Kathy pointed out how having an American actor in your movie does not bestow the “Hollywood” title on it. According to the article GC allowed Kathy to publish on their site, the main requirement to be seen as a “Hollywood” movie is that it is produced by one of the major studios located in Hollywood (Los Angeles, CA). The producers of this movie have no Hollywood connections, one can see that with a minimal amount of research. It is an Independent movie, with no major studio connections. It is kinda dumb, and VERY hypocritical of GC to post an article stating this is a “Hollywood Movie” when it is no more so than the movie Leila made that was mis-labeled. The only difference is that this is about Jackie, and I have come to observe that this site has made it their mission to promote her above others, even if it means exaggeration.

This is to the Chris, and it is completely unrelated to the subject matter but could GC do something about all these strange commercials i.e. the ones on clorox,laundry soap and detergents etc that pop up when you open the GC website? It is getting annoying to have to mute all these commercials when you navigate the pages of the GC website. I am concerned because it makes the website look viral and the other day my antivirus would not let me launch the page because “It” claimed the GC website had some Malware and Spyware. As much us we want to read your interesting and entertaining blog,is there something you can do to make the pages on the website more browsing safe and not have all these talking commercials pop up? This is my humble plea. Thank you.

@Adjoa Nbaaso), Yeah, somewhere over the weekend for few hours, we had hackers attack on one of our media files and threw a malware warning. We got it fixed same day though.
We try to handle security issues urgently for the safety of visitors. The site is as safe as you can think about !
For the video/audio ads, I will look into this. I have not gotten any before and no one had brought it to my attention until now. 🙂
