Weekly Discussion: Marriage, A Social Contract Or That Which Depicts Love & Guarantees A Lasting Partnership….?

blank

Recent developments in the world of celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Kris Humpheries and our own very own  Christiana Love have made it necessary for me to revisit this topic.

After 72 days of marriage, Kim K called it a quit, a deep slap on the sacred nature of the institution of marriage… Contemporary developments to a greater extent seem to affirm my belief that, marriage  does not guarantee a lasting partnership/relationship but it is just another social contract we usher ourselves into.

Marriage, in spite of its elusive interpretation and the divorce ridden hallmark that has come to typify its overview, has still managed to endure the test of time.   Its root and importance can be traced to the genesis of mankind: where God created living things in pairs and surely it will not be unreasonable to think that these creatures were of different sex.

It is therefore prudent to acknowledge marriage as a concept of God’s imagination and creation to continuously pair us as was done at creation.

The value and substance of marriage to mankind and to our contemporary society varies in our minds as individuals. Many are those who consider marriage as that needed to ensure a lasting relationship and better still, as a fountainhead of love or that which depicts love.

The On-Going Gay Rights Hullabaloo In Ghana After UK Warned To Cut All Help To Ghana Over The Weekend…Where Do You Stand?

Lesbians In A Popular Ghanaian Night Club,Accra

The UK’s Prime Minister-David Cameroon over the weekend vigorously said that aid would be cut to African countries (including Ghana) which fail to respect gay rights…

Ghana got heated this week with various politicians and concerned citizens attacking the UK Prime Minister for this ‘ill statement’ calling him a bully and ‘nonsense talker’.

Many have mentioned that, Ghana is not that poor and if our leaders had managed our resources well, we would have been the one giving aids to UK. I so much agree with this.

I have heard some interesting comments on this legalization of ‘Gay rights’ issue and have also heard some pretty stupid arguments.

Anti-corruption campaigner and NPP Member of Parliament for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa in the Central Region, Hon Paul Collins Appiah-Ofori took it to a different level saying…

“Can’t you see the guy is a fool? Can’t you just see he is a fool? When God created this world, what directives did he give to mankind? He told us to go and multiply and he meant we should be producing off-springs. Can a man who has sex with the same gender or a female who does likewise, produce babies? So if you are a Prime Minister and you want this disgusting thing to go on, go tell it to your own people but not to Africans,”
