New Music: ‘Shame & Scandal In The Family’ By Ben Brako Featuring ASEM

Published by

In Ghana, lots of music is churned out on daily basis, yet great chunk of such songs are nothing to write home about – just ordinary and noisy songs.
You can blame that on the proliferation of recording studios at every corner in the country. Because of the availability of such studios, anybody at all can record something and call it music.
Only few take their time to record something worth listening to. Lyrics in a song determine the credibility of a musician. Some good songs die as the bad ones get rotation on radio at their expense.
GhanaCelebrities.Com has obtained a new song of legendary Highlife musician, Ben Brako featuring one of the hardworking and best rappers in Ghana, A.S.E.M.
The song is titled ‘Shame & Scandal In The Family’, produced by Kaywa and its simply what you will call a masterpiece. No needless noise. It’s a song that both old and young folks can relate to.
‘Shame & Scandal In The Family’ talks about a young man who wanted to marry because he felt he was old and grown enough to take a wife. In his bid to get married, he introduced his woman to his dad, only to be informed that, his bride to be is his sister, yet his mum doesn’t know.
The dad told him: “Son, I have to say no, this girl is your sister, but your mama don’t know”.
The young man went straight to his mother and told her all that the dad has said. She urged him on to go ahead to marry her. She laughed and said to him: “Go man, go.  Your daddy ain’t your daddy, but your daddy don’t know.”
What would you have done if you were in the young man’s shoes? Who would you listen to: Mum or Dad?

FIRST VERSE – BEN BRAKO
In Sekunde town there was a family
With much confusion as you will see
It was a mama and a papa and a boy who was grown
He wanted to marry, have a wife of his own
He found a young girl that suited him nice
Went to his papa to ask his advice
His papa said: “Son, I have to say no,
This girl is your sister, but your mama don’t know”
CHORUS
Woe is me
Shame and scandal in the family
Woe is me
Shame and scandal in the family
SECOND VERSE – BEN BRAKO
A week went by and the summer came round
Soon the best cook in the town he did find
He went to his papa to name the day
His papa shook his head and to him he did say
“You can’t marry that girl; I have to say no,
This girl is your sister, but your mama don’t know”
CHORUS
Woe is me
Shame and scandal in the family
Woe is me
Shame and scandal in the family
RAP – A.S.E.M.
Papa, I just found out she is late
That’s why we are getting married
Lord knows I am a man of faith
But l really hope she miscarries
Cos I can’t have a son who is a nephew
And I can’t have a niece who is a daughter
Confused, don’t know what to do
But I am starring at the ring that I bought her
How do I tell my wife-to-be that she is also my sister
How do I wipe the memories of all the times that I kissed her
Now you’re telling me to remain calm
Telling me that I can’t tell mum
Papa was a rolling stone
Damn! I hate that song
THIRD VERSE – BEN BRAKO
He went to his mama and covered his head
And told her all what his daddy had said
His mama she laughed, she say, “Go man, go
Your daddy ain’t your daddy, but your daddy don’t know.”
HOOK – 2X
