THE BIG QUESTION: Jamaica Bans Preaching In Buses, Should Ghana Do The Same?

blank

Though Jamaica is predominately a Christian state, the public transport authority has seen it necessary to ban all preaching in public buses after several commuters complained about the nose and disturbances.

Should Ghana do the same?

I am not sure the last time you took a bus in Ghana, especially those moving between Accra and Kumasi.

As if churches and the radio stations are not enough, one after another, pastors jump on and off these buses, proclaiming the word of God.

What I have realized is how poorly most of these pastors even interpret the scriptures and the sort of ear drum breaking shouting they engage in.

Sometimes, you would catch some of these pastors clearly attacking other religious groups without being mindful and circumspect.

If you are lucky enough to escape the harsh and loud preaching of these transport preachers,  then better fasten your seat belt for the worse-the medicine sellers to come and bombard you with a drug which cure every disease known under this sun.

Don’t you think it is time our transport authority also ban these medicine sellers and preachers on buses to give travellers some sort of comfort and peace of mind?

Have you ever witnessed any of the above before? I would love to hear your experience…

  1. The last time i used a public transport for a long journey in GH was in 2007 and there was a preacher and after that a herbal medicine seller, i was glad i had my mp3 player with me. Honestly, its kind of annoying, I mean I love hearing the word of God but then again i also believe in the saying that “there’s time for everything”. So YES, i will be very glad if these things are ban in public transports in GH.

  2. Why should Ghana always follow what others do are we second hand? Remember nobody will ever travel the bridge of Blessings without crossing the streets of Prayer and Faith
