Should Ex Beauty Queens Be Held To A Certain Standard Of Beauty?

I get sad when I see former beauty queens looking like regular women, getting fat, dressing badly, name it.

I am not in anyway saying regular women are not beautiful but as a queen who has stood and won a pageant and been recognized, you need to have that extra factor that sets you apart physically. As a lady is not heard, there should be something that makes people recognize a difference in you.

I am not going to mention names but recently I attended a program where a beauty queen was called to present an award on stage…Everybody was honestly disappointed, we practically shifted in our seats uncomfortably especially when the presenter kept going on about her attributes. Attributes we obviously couldn’t see.

What made the situation even more embarrassing was that another ex beauty queen was called onto the same stage that looked extremely well groomed, dressed immaculately, makeup on point, walked like a queen and talked like a queen.  How does it make sense when you stand on a stage with beauty queens older than you who have also married and had kids and you end up looking bad and dressing worse than them to boot?

I want to believe all that boot camping at least teaches how to maintain ‘the look’.

There is one ex beauty queen in Ghana who I have always greatly admired-Ina Mariam Patty, like it or not, most need to take a page out of her book.

I think as long as you have the title of a beauty queen, you owe it to the public to always appear beautifully. Be gentle on our eyes.  Does anybody agree or disagree with me?

  1. i agree with u to a certain degree. but the beauty with the world, is that we all can look different. and dont need to change our attributes as long as we love our own self!!

  2. This happens when a wrong person is choosed as a beauty queen ….
I don’t know why some of the African women dont take care of themselves well but in other parts of the contents the women look presentable, nice hair, nice skin. and what is good about it is they maintain their culture and in Ghana the few women who dress decently rather copy and they do imitate blindly , especially the celebrities to be precise ,not for getting just recent lady gaga of Ghana.

    • @27cдгibre(Ф_ф), I disagree with you most of this past beauty queens are not recognized in events and most of them have family life to live and nobody has to live the expectation of others.

  3. I do not disagree with you neither do I agree with you. Anybody can dress anyhow they want the fact that you are a beauty queen doesn’t you always have to look shabby. They are women and as women as they tend to age their body changes due to some of them having babies and falling sick. Please blog about more empowering stuff not condemning others

  4. I do not advocate that women should let themselves go after they marry and have kids etc and not take care of themselves. But sometimes, i think you should sympathize with some of our women who have had kids etc. I mean, childcare in Ghana is quite tough you know? unlike in western societies where you see a lot of these white men carrying babies, changing diapers, carrying out trash, cooking, scrubbing bath etc. it is not like this in a lot of African homes so the women are under a lot of stress. even if you get housemaid, you cant rely on her for all things u know! so it’s not a shock if our women don’t look so hot after childbirth. To the best of my knowledge Ina is not married with kids (please i may be wrong) so that may be easier for her to maintain her looks. kudos to her though for looking great though! and we must all endure to stay healthy by working out and eating healthy food (no more fried rice at night lol)
