GHANA’S ELECTION: It Is Over, So Why Are Some People Still Trying To Create Mayhem? It Is Good Enough That People Know There Was An Election; The People Who Cast The Votes Decide Nothing. The People Who Count The Votes Decide Everything- Josef Stalin

My friend, Manasseh Azuri, a reporter for JoyFm posted on his Facebook wall that, a group of thugs of the opposition party almost lynched him and other reporters who had been sent out to report on the election and the aftermath of it. He mentioned that these group of thugs were wielding different sorts of weapons, and that had it not been for the quick intervention of the security forces who were present at that moment, they would have been hurt or even killed. Their Joyfm vehicle was damaged from hitting by these boys.

As a country, I believe we should all learn to live together no matter our differences. The election is done, and there is nothing one can do about it whether he/she likes it or not.  These types of behaviors are often what stir up civil war in most of these war torn African countries. I don’t think Ghana is ready for that.

We have enjoyed peace and security for years, and we shouldn’t sacrifice that for any political party.  One thing we should all understand is that, the election was a competition, and in every competition there is a winner and a loser. Yes, some agree that the election wasn’t fair because of all that we heard, read or witnessed, but often the government in power has ways of manipulating the numbers to win, and that is what might have just happened in this election.  Nonetheless, these politicians are not worth us sacrificing our peace or security for. In my opinion they are all CORRUPT!

These journalists who were attacked didn’t deserve that. Like everyone else, they were out there doing their job to provide for their families, and there is no reason for them to feel threatened on their jobs. My fellow Ghanaians especially the male youth please refrain from this type of acts. You can’t give-up your future for a politician who obviously doesn’t care about you and never will even if you vote for them all throughout your lifetime.

We have to learn to live together in harmony regardless of our political views or differences because in the end, we are all one people being ruled by corrupt government no matter how you look at it.

Also, our leaders should stop the propaganda, and learn to work together for the betterment of our nation. They should call their supporters to order, so that these attacks on innocent people will stop. We all love Ghana because it is the only and one country we will ever have, and as such we have to protect it to ensure that in the end of it all peace will rule!

I will end this piece with what Josef Stalin once said; it is good enough that people know there was an election; the people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything.

  2. I don’t really know wat wrong with some Ghanaians. I’m a full npp  member but wat our supporters are doing is rubbish. We’re all over circle doing demonstration to support our party against de election results. All dis we’re doing can bring war in ghana. In case there is war now both npp or ndc members or any member parliament will just take his or her passport &travel aboard.then they will leave as to die. So  ppl of ghana is time we stop &let peace rain.

  3. The EC isnt above the law and he shd be hurled before the courts for gross violation of the constitution, and utter incompetence n fraud, this is a step of fraud on ghanaians and shd be stopped. There cannot be PEACE without JUSTICE, therefore i strongly disagree with Manasseh that ‘the elections is done, and theres nothing we can do about it’, this amounts to subverting the will of Ghanaians n is treasonable, if there is evidence that the elections was RIGGED, the EC must be taken on, same thing happened in Ivory Coast when the EC declared Gbagbo the winner the opposition took him to court n the decision was overturned, Nana has told the supporters to remain calm but the people they are frustrated n wants justice.

  4. Politics is definitely one of those things people shouldn’t get overly emotional about. Politics is an art of deceit. You do whatever you can to be voted in, and after that, totally disregard the needs of the people. Do you really think much would be difference to the common Ghanaian if NPP had won? Ghana’s GDP has been on the rise since the discovery of oil, which is obviously great for the country, how much of that wealth treacles down the general population? Would that change if NPP was in government?  Some politicians might actually care for their people, but the majority dont. its all about personal gain. And this isn’t just in Africa. It happens everywhere, however corruption in the west is much more sophisticated. How does Tony Blair end up becoming a senior advisor to JP Morgan. They all come into power and help their rich friends out. Simple as that.
For the people protesting in Ghana, go home, do something far more productive in your life than to blindly follow horrendous parties and stop hurting your fellow Ghanaians.
