Ghana Police Begin Investigations Into Chris Brown Weed Smoking Saga

Chris Brown Smokes Weed In Ghana

In attempt to calm down nerves and front as if laws work in Ghana, the police have officially launched investigation into the issue of Chris Brown publicly smoking WEED in Ghana when he performed at the rlg staged concert on 5th March, 2013.

The Police have commenced investigation into the formal complaint brought by the CEO of POS Foundation, Mr. Jonathan Osei-Wusu on 6th March 2013 at the Ministries Police station against the popular American RnB artist Chris Brown for smoking Indian hemp publicly in Ghana.

Section 5 of narcotic drugs [Control Enforcement and Sanctions] Act, 1990 PNDCL 236, states that “a person shall not, without lawful authority or excuse, smoke, sniff, consume, inject into the body or otherwise administer a narcotic drug on the body of that person.”

Where will this investigation go? No-where since it was the same police who escorted Chris Brown off stage after his weed-smoking performance.

The public out-cry has been unbearable and surely this is an attempt to say; ‘be calm, we are investigating this’. If anything at all, it is the event organizers who need to be slapped with a huge fine at this stage.

Questions like; who provided him with the weed and why the attempt by the organizers to cover his actions must be correctly asked.

If you ask me, I will say, despite the fact a docket has been opened, and the police have stated “they would want to assure the good people of Ghana that they will do everything possible to get to the bottom of the issue”, we are chasing a ghost.

In the last few days, we’ve had top religious and political persons in Ghana expressing their shock and displeasure with Chris Brown’s actions and this must have pushed for the police investigation.

Archbishop Palmer-Buckle stated in Kumasi few days ago that, he was  “very shocked that the so called Chris Brown dare to smoke Indian herb in public and so far I haven’t heard any of our law enforcement agencies talking about it as a total offence.”

Minister of State and Member of Parliament for Wa Central Rashid Pelpuo has also condemned the American R&B star. During a recent apperance on MultiTV,  Rashid Pelpuo said the act offends the country’s laws and Brown must be brought to book. “This is appalling. It is unacceptable. In Ghana we have laws and one of the laws is to ban drugs be it marijuana, ganja, weed or whatever it is being called.

“It is also internationally recognized that it is part of the group of drugs that should not be taken openly by people. “So if Chris Brown did that, without recourse to our laws, it is so disturbing.

“…He is bringing in a culture which is contrary to the culture here. I don’t know whether he is not informed about it. But if he is informed and he has done that he has contravened our laws and he has to be cautioned and or arrested.

“…At the point he did it I think the police should have gone for him and I think that is unacceptable,” Pelpuo said.

So I guess it is because of such outbursts that the police have decided to throw dust into our eyes with their dead investigation.

Let’s wait to see the outcome!

  1. Stupidity at its best. So, it has take some to complain first for the incompetent, useless and corrupt Ghana police force to do its job? Why was that fool not arrested at the scene of the “crime” when the police was in full force at the concert where this incident took place. Please stop wasting our time with such rubbish. 99% of folks in Ghana are not serious…about anything.
