I went on my knees and cried from the bottom of my heart because it was too good to be true. I didn’t deserve a wonderful guy who will do anything to be with me. He held my hands and when he uttered the first word I placed my finger on his lips and gave him a kiss on the cheek and walked away.

I was too scared because of the million mistakes I had made in the past, besides I had been in and out of relationships. I was scared I would mess it up since I always have a nice way of messing up relationships.

He followed me and I asked him to take me home, we walked towards his car, he opened the door and kissed me, I couldn’t hold myself as I kissed him back in tears. He raised me up and carried me to his apartment. We made love throughout the night; I can’t really tell when we fell asleep.

I felt something cold on my cheek; it was Ben’s good morning kiss plus breakfast in bed. I realized it wasn’t a dream but was real, I moved back and he had a confused look. I picked my phone and played Cwesi Oteng’s song “U dey bless me”.

We both laughed together and tears started running down my cheeks. He held me and said I should relax and take it one step at a time, in my head I said “Who gets this treatment from a fine gentleman and will be calm”.

His door bell rang, I heard a male voice, he walked to the bedroom and asked me to dress up and move to the living room to meet his brother. I thought he was the only child; apparently, his brother lived with his uncle in the states from childhood and only moved to Ghana after his company opened a branch here and made him the Country Manager. I wore Ben’s shirt since my dress wasn’t appropriate, he held my hands as we walked into the living room.

Three months back after my break up with Maxwell, I was in a terrible state. It was Friday after work and I didn’t want to go home to an empty apartment, I called my girl friends and they were all busy. I went to Cells Bridge to have diner and unwind, as I was enjoying my meal someone pulled a chair and sat by me. I was bored, besides I didn’t want to be the only one on the table.

We talked about work, personal lives and he told me he was new in town. We played the game of dare, because I lost most of the time I had to take tequila shots. I was too drunk to drive, we used his car and he drove me to his house. I woke up the next day next to him in bed. I freaked out, picked my bag and left without waking him up.

Ben, said “Michael, meet the love of my life and my best friend”. I became pale, I felt a ripple rush through me, Michael stared at me and gave me an evil smile. I was so petrified that I started bleeding immediately, my menses just came, I excused myself and went to the washroom.

I picked my bag and told Ben there was an emergency I had to attend to at home. He offered to take me home which I rejected but he didn’t take no for an answer. His brother also got in the car with us; I was mute and faked migraine.

When I got home, I locked my door and wept profusely. I asked God why He will do this to me, I was deep in thoughts, “I can’t tell him I slept with his brother, I can’t lose him”.

I went to the bathroom and every drop of water from the shower hit me real hard. I was in so much pain, I felt my life had shuttered, I knelt down and screamed. Words can’t describe the pain I felt in my heart that day, it was pure torture; as if my heart had been stabbed with a dagger. I stayed in there for more than 2 hours. KARMA IS INDEED A BITCH.
