VIDEO: When Jackie Appiah Graced The Big Brother Africa Live Stage

Jackie Appiah1

Jackie Appiah is not just a hallmark name in the Ghanaian industry, she is the most powerful brand in Ghanaian movie industry—and probably one of the strongest even in Africa…

The Ghanaian star actress who has been brought in to spice up the Big Brother Africa game and help with ratings sat down to talk to IK few hours ago about African movies….

According to BBA;

Nicknamed “the eyes and smile of Ghana”, the gorgeous Jackie Appiah graced the Big Brother Africa Live stage alongside fellow actor OC Ukeje.

Both winners of the inaugural AfricaMagic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCAs), which were hosted by our very own IK, the duo took to the hot red seat on the Big Brother Africa stage.

The AMVCA Best Actor, OC Ukeje dished out a few tips on making it big in the film industry. Jackie was also a guest judge during the Movie Task Presentations on Thursday with another award-winning actor, Akin Omotoso.

Asked how she felt about having all the Big Brother Africa cameras around her in the House on Thursday night, Jackie said it was a bit uncomfortable but she eased into it fast because they were not in her face.

The second AMVCAs will take place on 8 March 2014 in Lagos, Nigeria. All films, made-for-television movies or television series are eligible or entry to the AMVCA if they were produced and broadcast or publicly exhibited during the period of 1st May 2012 to September 30 2013.

  1. AWWWWWW MY DEAR JACKIE I am so proud of you and I know GHANA and AFRICA are also proud of you. GOD richly bless and open bigger doors for you, truly I agree you are the EYES and SMILE of Ghana as Africa claims, you are one of GHANAs biggest STARs and I say you have been a blessing to your country GHANA.

  2. GC, that was very sloppy of you: Jackie is not “the most powerful brand in Ghanaian music industry” but rather in the MOVIE Industry or are my missing something? Anyway, Jackie is an enduring beauty who radiates pure class and we love her very much in Nigeria. She is not just a brand in Ghana but in Africa. My worry is that there doesn’t seem to be many more with such class and grace coming out of Ghana presently. No offense meant

    • @Jeanie, Lol, she is not just GC’s favorite but one of Africa’s biggest favorites; come on, can anyone actually argue with that? The woman ranks with Genevieve and Omotola. I believe that is the top three in Africa

        • @Jeanie, well you know, it actually depends on the criteria you use. For me, yes, she is beautiful but pay attention to my words: I said she has “ENDURING” beauty. Jackie might not be the most beautiful actress at any point in time, but what ever little beauty she has has lasted for ages, and she continues to glow. The same thing with her acting: she may not be the best actress at any point in time but over a long period of time she has been among the best. Let me illustrate: take Yvonne Nelson who is a young actress I like. Let us say YN is currently the best in Ghana now for purposes of this argument, but the question is for how long has she been among the best? Even if Jackie is only 4th best in Ghana at any point in time, the fact she has been consistently so for over a decade now means if you apply percentages, she is the best over-all. Many of the top and best artists who started out at the same time with Jackie both in Nigeria and Ghana have faded out and no where to be found, but Jackie has always been there. Every opinion is subjective of course and most times people view things from the prism of my village/tribe/clan person etc. In Nigeria, I can safely say that there is no argument that Genevieve and Omotola are our top two in no particular order and we rate Jackie on the same level with them. I can only add that as I don’t pay as much attention to Ghanaian movies as I do to Nigerian movies, maybe there are things Ghanaians know about their industry better than I do and you guys are in a better position to rate. I can assure you though that if you ask most Nigerians who is the No. 1 artiste OF ALL TIME, whether male or female out of Ghana, over 80% will not think twice in voting Jackie. In fact I don’t even know what we are arguing; the woman is an ICON in Nollywood for Christsake and I hope this is not a case of a Prophet not being recognized in her own place. Finally there is nothing wrong in loving other actresses too. I myself like the two Yvonne’s as well but they are still new in the game though with time they will hit the great heights Jackie has attained
