THE BIG QUESTION: Are Ghanaian Women Emotionally Weak Compared to Nigerian Women?

A Ghana supporter arrives at Gold Coast bar-restaurant in Brixton, south London.

I used to think Ghanaian women were fiery on a normal day but I seem to have been proven wrong. Well, not until I have sampled the general impression and that is why I am writing this.

So the comparison is between Ghanaian and Nigerian women. And it has come about because I listened to a strange dialogue between two women on TV. In a Nigerian movie, I wasn’t exactly watching but this part sure caught my attention.

One Nigerian woman is sitting alone crying her eyes out and screaming…her two friends (who are also Nigerian) approach her. She is still crying hysterically so her friends demand to know why she is crying. She says: “one woman is stealing my man from me” and continues balling her eyes put.

Her friend incredulously asks: “is that why you are crying? What nonsense! If I didn’t know you well, I would have said you are a Ghanaian woman!”

I was so shocked I just had my mouth hanging open. What is she trying to say? That only Ghanaian women cry over their men? Are we emotionally weak?

Kindly bear in mind that I am trying to have a friendly discussion here. No malice intended to Ghanaian or Nigerian women. It just seemed really amusing.

READERS’ MAIL: Does Yvonne Okoro Know About This? | A Chinese Website That Sells FAKE Designer Dresses Puts Her Up As A Client—Sort Of!

Yvonne Okoro

A GC Reader by name ‘Babe Naija’ sent the below email containing a link to a Chinese website which sells FAKE designer dresses that has Yvonne Okoro on there— wearing a dress they are selling for 25.99 dollars…

What they are selling on the website is obviously a FAKE version of the Top Shop dress but as to why they’ve decided to use actress-Yvonne Okoro’s photo is where the question lies…

Are they by any means suggesting that Yvonne Okoro buys from them, is wearing one of their fakies or what? This is not good for Yvonne Okoro’s image considering the many allegations of our celebrities opting for bootleg versions of expensive designer dresses and bags…

This is why some people are not moved by celebrities when they claim to be wearing expensive top brands, because you never know where they actually got them from—with the many fakies all around us!

Okoro should quickly reach out to the website to take her image off if she is not their client or if she has nothing to do with them..If she wants to HIRE me to do that for her, I can do it at a reasonable cost!

Below is what the GC reader sent;

line

above link is a china website that imitate designer clothes. It’s been confirmed yvonne our own Okoro is a valid customer to this seller lol please publish this. the above dress she wore only cost 25dollars. What about their so called LV bags? smh

Inferiority Complex of the Modern Black Woman-Fake Accent & Skin Bleaching

Bleaching and Accent

I hate to say this in the open, I judge women who bleach with the same level of detest as those who parade fake accents—I call them all, inferior beings!

Clearly, the number of low self- esteem black women walking around outweighs those with any sort of confidence left in them, and I blame it on our absurd desire to be everything except what we truly are in life…

I do not make excuses for the many who find pride and status in putting up accents, even if it makes them sound like idiots—and I do not accommodate those who take excessive delight in fixing a new complexion they find appropriate, far from what they have by default.

I love colours but do not appreciate any attempt to self-create one in the face of daily emerging complications and diseases. The modern black woman seems to have no confidence in herself and will go every extent to steal what belongs to another—-by letting go the uniqueness and beauty of her own skin.

Similarly, I love the fact that I can tell from a person’s accent she may come from a faraway land, but it becomes utterly confusing and disgusting, when my neighbour equally sounds like a foreigner as a result of her attempt to sound like those she sees on MTV.

Confidence and embracing the uniqueness of one’s identity, personality and outlook is totally missing in the minds of today’s black woman.

But interestingly, some think one aspect of the crime is far diabolical than other. Either skin bleaching or fake ‘accenting’, I think they all reveal a deep rooted problem of self-hate, low self-esteem and unnecessary desire to be like others.

It Is In VOGUE – But Is It for You?

fashion

Each season, we buy into the newest fashion, trend or over hyped product and replace working items with newer models – because it is in vogue. We (ladies especially) follow fashion and love to keep up with all the trends; but oftentimes, what is in vogue is not necessarily for us. Fashion is marketed in such a way that one is compelled to ‘attain a certain look’. Many women have negative self-images if they don’t look or dress up to the ideals of the high fashion world…this could be due to weight/body type, hairstyles, make-up, jewellery, and so on.

People appear ‘fashionable’ and ‘up to date’ when seen in/with the latest attire or accessories. Some deny their own wants or tastes just to appeal to others and they follow the latest fashion even if it makes them look bad – really bad. Unlike the people they want to appeal to, they don’t take into consideration how explosive their thighs are, the small/massive butt and bust and their skin tone when they apply makeup or paint their face.

If you look bad in skinny jeans/leggings, for example, you’ll still look bad in them no matter how trendy they are at the moment. People who seriously need to hide their bellies are usually the ones who display it. I don’t see any cuteness in displaying flabs, love handles, stretch marks and cellulites all in the name of ‘latest’. Some ladies don’t feel comfortable in the nude in the presence of their husbands/partners but find it cool displaying it outside

Personally, there are fashion items I admire on people but will never wear because either my body type won’t allow it, or I don’t like to wear it because of comfort or otherwise. Persuading me to buy the latest big/hoop/drop earrings won’t wash because I don’t like.

Ahead Of December 6 ‘Back in the Day’ Concert, Let’s Look At Reggie Rockstone!

Reggie Rockstone
Reggie Rockstone

Despite his inherent ‘show-offness’, he is not just called the Grandpapaz for nothing—he started a whole music genre which has become the strongest in Ghana, called Hiplife…

From where some of us sit, Hiplife has become more than a musical genre. It is not far from a movement or a lifestyle as it has its own unique & intriguing identity.

Reggie Rockstone (real name Reginald Osei) was born in United Kingdom but it may have been his subsequent stay in United States of America which sparked the whole Hiplife movement in him.

Riding on the back of the then Hip Hop culture which he was over exposed to, Reggie succeeded in knitting a genre so close to Hip Hop in one sense but so far from it in terms of style, language and audience…

Like most movements, it started at isolated corners—unnoticed. But it is said that, by 1994, Reggie Rockstone had attained a huge following—and had succeeded in choking the millions of Ghanaians with what at the time was seen as having no future…

I hate to look at the many awards Reggie Rockstone has won because that is not the perfect indication of his achievements. For the best outlook at his accomplishment, just think HIPLIFE!

How To Make SMOOTHIES | GC Staff Writer Has The Easy Steps For You!

fruit-smoothies1

I recently found out that smoothies are without question one of the best food ideas of the last century! Don’t let the fancy name fool you; there really isn’t anything extraordinary about making one… Yes, I said making one! You don’t need to buy it if you know how to make it!

But that’s not all the upside to this yummy invention (Bless his heart, whoever thought of the idea) not only is it incredibly healthy, it can also be a delicious “forbidden” treat! So, whether you’re trying to lose some baby fat or gain a few pounds, it’s your best bet! It’s all about what goes into it!

Now I know nobody ever needs a manual on how to gain weight (it’s a lot easier to put on than to lose) so let your imagination run wild with the junk if that’s the line you are towing. I will however concentrate on making healthy smoothies and why they are good for you.

Smoothies are surprisingly easy to make at home. All you need is a blender, nothing fancy, a few inexpensive food items, and almost anyone can make a smoothie.  And you don’t have to pay a ton of money to get one either. Here’s how it’s done.

First add your liquid – The liquid is considered the base of your smoothie, and it can greatly affect how your smoothie tastes, so choose wisely.  Depending on your diet, you can add quite a number of things as a liquid for your smoothie. You can add water if you have nothing else, but there are lots of other ideas to try out. Milk is one of the most popular choices, as is coconut milk (that is blending both coconut and water to paste), coconut water, tea and coffee. Also, fruit juice of any kind is good if you want an extra sweet base.

Akon Responds To Allegation Of Discriminating Against DARK Skinned Models in Ghana

Akon

After Akon ‘s recent video shoot in Ghana with Nigeria’s Wizkid and Banky W, it emerged that the Senegalese born American based rapper joined hands with some modelling agencies to discriminate against dark skinned models who they had initially requested…

After the video shoot, some dark skinned models alleged that Akon and Wizkid requested through the various modelling agency that they do not want them (dark skinned models) anymore—-but wanted light skinned ones, preferably mixed race models.

The insult on the dark skinned models was aggravated by subsequent request that, if they know of any light skinned young girls, they should kindly supply their details or call them over…If you did not read our report on the issue, CLICK HERE to read it

A photog of celebrity blog-TMZ caught up with Akon who was rolling up to Bootsy Bellows in West Hollywood to find out if the above really did happen and he said NO…

But then, what else do we expect him to say? We guess when the video for the song- Roll It comes out, we can make some deductions as to which models were used…
