MUST READ: Praising the Lord; Plus Azonto!

dance in church

Before I start with my article, don’t let the title get you confused. It’s just a play on the title of Kwaw Ansah’s latest movie, “Praising the Lord plus one”. I chose this title because this article, just like Kwaw Ansah’s movie revolves around one theme; hypocrisy in the Christian society.

A few weeks ago, I came across a friend’s status update on Facebook. What really caught my attention about the status update was the number of comments it had. The person had posed a question on whether or not Ghana’s first global dance, “Azonto” should be allowed in churches. And you should have seen the comments.

While some were of the view that there was absolutely nothing wrong with Azonto featuring in church, of course, Jesus’ personal assistants were there to inform us of how evil the dance was. Backing their claim with scripture and on the conclusion that Azonto in all its varieties (Amanda and Akaida), were actually a confirmation that the end and the second coming of Christ was at hand.

After scrolling down from comment to comment, all I could do was to shake my head in total disappointment. I think that there are better and rather more serious issues that need to checked and dealt with within the church, and not some silly and harmless dance called Azonto.

Look, I grew up in a church that made me a bitter person throughout my childhood until I became an adult and had the courage to leave my parents with two options: either I was permitted to change to a church where I was more accepted or I totally quit church to become an atheist!

Why? Because I couldn’t stand how the lessons I received in Sunday school class contradicted with the way I was treated. The Bible spoke about loving one another yet,  here I was in a church where I was constantly been mocked and teased because I wasn’t among the lot whose parents drove in big cars, because I didn’t go to a well known school or an international school like the majority of the kids in the church.

I was looked down upon because I didn’t spend my holidays abroad and because I couldn’t afford a simple meat pie after church service and even though I was very good at dancing, acting and poetry recitals, my place at the front row was always given to the children of church leaders.

John Dumelo Says He Gets LONELY & The Only Thing Missing Is A MRS

John Dumelo2

Is John Dumelo trying to tell us that he will be having a Mrs sometime soon or is he just being real with his situation?

Surely, John has several girls around who will die to be that Mrs, but I guess it is not always about what the girls want, rather what he wants as a person…

Unless John Dumelo wants to tell us he does not have enough money to be able to provide the designer bags/dresses and unnecessary needs of some of his colleague movie stars, there are certainly several of them who would gladly jump unto his bed. After all, they go to bed lonely too or with people’s husbands—we think.

Oh I got the above sentence wrong, he want a real MRS and not a booty call or a ‘cash chewer’…

Whatever it is, John wants you to know that, not all that glitters is gold; it is not that great with him—-hope we are not heading to the world of bedroom depression.

Check out John Dumelo’s tweets…

What Are The Relationship Deal Breakers For You? | GC Staff Writer Shares Hers…

blackcoupleatdate

So last Friday was girl’s night and with a couple of friends, we decided to hit town to cool off a bit. It was a weekly ritual that became a monthly to what it is now; once in a while when there was a juicy gist to share. I love spending time with my girls and I always looked forward to having one of these nights out.

On this particular night, the gist of the day, or should I say night was my friend who I would refer to as Remy for the purpose of this discussion.

She told us about this guy she had started seeing. She liked a lot of things about the guy; he was caring, kind, gentle and many other qualities some girls only get to dream about. There was just one problem: the guy couldn’t eat without opening his mouth. She said anytime they dined out, the guy would make it a point to start talking about something once the food hits his mouth.  And it was at that point in time that he will get enthusiastic about whatever he was talking about.

She said her worst experience with him was one time when the guy had just ingested yam and nkontomire stew, and he went ahead to display the unsightly combination of food in his mouth. She said she stopped looking at the guy the same way after that incident, and anytime she was about to kiss him a vision of the yam and stew combo in his mouth would appear, causing her to be hesitant about the kissing. According to her she was going to put a stop to their relationship because she just couldn’t get over his bad eating and talking habit.

After a few drinks and laughter, we all proceeded to talk about our own irks when it comes to the guys we were dating. I realized that most times, you don’t often know something irks you until you actually get to experience it.
