Can we mourn Komla Dumor and leave these wild assumptions and predictions behind? And which party would he has become a flag-bearer for?

Hiplife artiste, Okyeame Kwame, known in real life as Kwame Nsiah Appau, believes the late iconic broadcaster Komla Dumor would have become the president of Ghana.
According to the award winning musician, Komla Dumor’s giant strides in journalism and achievements at the BBC made him a perfect candidate for Ghana’s top job – President.
Okyeame Kwame, who was speaking in an interview with myjoyonline.com after signing the book of condolence opened at Joy FM in honour the late iconic broadcaster said: “He had this demeanor of importance around him that wasn’t something he artificially carried, it was natural. You can see that this guy is grooming himself to be the next president of Ghana.”
To buttress his point, the ‘Woso’ hit singer explained that: “When a man leads a selfless life, he achieves, he educates himself and then he goes through his glass ceiling from a journalist just doing traffic watch at the back of a motorcycle to the most prominent radio presenter/journalist in the country and then goes on to become prominent in Africa and in the world…
“The next level that I saw for him with all his experience and his travels and his persona is being an icon for Ghana and how else was he going to be an icon for Ghana than to lead the people with the experiences and exposure.”
He noted that, “Whenever I watched BBC, I saw him as okay he is young but the time he turns 55, I think he is coming down to use his clouts and his connections and try to be the president so that he can shape the nation. If I were him, I would do that. If had that type of exposure, education and affluence, I would do that.”
Okyeame Kwame, also known as the ‘Rap Doctor’, recounted how he met Komla Dumor through Mark Okraku Mantey (also a former employee), and a producer of their (himself and Okyeame Quophi) first album in 1996.
“Joy FM was like my second home in Accra,” he said adding that, “I met him [Komla] severally,” because we came to sometimes wait for Mark at the radio station.
According to him, Komla Dumor, also known as the ‘Boss Player’, played their first single, ‘Brebre Obaa Hemaa’ several times on radio and every time he saw him, he remarked that, “There is something great in you.”
That remark, the ‘Rap Doctor’ noted, was more than a prophecy and Komla’s “concept of ‘rolemodelism’ is infectious. Ghana and Africa has lost a great asset, he added.
Touching on some of the lessons that can be learnt from the late iconic broadcaster’s life, Okyeame Kwame said he has learnt a lot from his personality and career growth.
“He’s done what I want to do. I want my music to leave Kumasi and become Ghana, and then leave Ghana become Africa and leave Africa and let the world hear it. He has done all of that. He came to Joy FM, Africa, and then the world. That is a lesson that no matter where you find yourself, if you push hard…you will get what you want to get,” he said.
Asked whether he will be recording a tribute song to Komla, he said, “a song for Komla will not be bad but it will also be hypocritical that we all saw that he was the man that rose from Joy FM to the BBC. Why didn’t we do a song about him when he was alive so he could hear it. it’s a shame!”
In spite of that, he has recorded a song with Magic System form Cote d’Ivoire and the first line of the song is “Komla Dumor.”
“I mentioned him with great ones like Nelson Mandela, Kwame Nkrumah. The song says ‘Don’t Dance’. If you know your life is worth nothing, don’t dance. No matter where you are financially or spiritually or socially, if you are alive, you need to appreciate it and move,” Okyeame Kwame said.
